WWE Raw Wrap Up 6-9-08

June 11th 2008 13:47

WWE Raw from Oakland, California 6-9-08

The show started with Mr. McMahon introducing us to the $1 million he was going to give away tonight. For further details on the McMahon Million Dollar Mania portions of the show please see the related article at the end of this one. It will include all the winners, the amounts they won, and info on next week's million dollar givaway.

Mr. Kennedy vs. Paul Burchill with Katie Lea Burchill

They went back and forth a bit, then Burchill took control. The crowd was well behind Kennedy, chanting his name again and again. Kennedy ducked a clothesline and then went for a roundhouse kick, it missed but he continued around for a second one and connected. Kennedy took control at this point, pounding on Burchill and getting a two-count. He went for the Mic Check but Burchill blocked it with a couple of elbows to the head. Kennedy landed a kick to the mid-section, then whipped him into the ropes. Burchill landed a kick to the shoulder when Kennedy telegraphed a move. Burchill tried to whip Kennedy off into the ropes but he blocked it and hit the Mic Check this time. He rolled him over and got the three count.

Winner: Mr. Kennedy

Katie Lea and Kennedy had some words after the match, and she slapped him across the face. Before Kennedy decided how to react Paul came up and hit him with a neck breaker from behind.

WWE Women's Champion Mickie James vs. Beth Phoenix (Non-title match)

This one started off with some brawling, which led into Phoenix hitting a DDT. She then used the top rope for a springboard suplex. She then hit a back breaker across her knee and held Mickie there, bending her backwards. Mickie tried to use a knee to the head to battle out, but Phoenix just picked her up, as she did though Mickie got a leg wrapped around her head and hit a hurricanrana. They went back to brawling again. Mickie kicked her in the mid-section which sent her to a knee, then hit a low dropkick and got the two-count. Next Mickie went to the top rope and came off with a Theis Press, hooked a leg, and got the three count.

Winner: Mickie James

Phoenix hit her from behind after the match, but before she could do anything else Melina was in the ring attacking her. She was punching and kicking, and then Phoenix lifted her up onto her shoulders. Melina turned it around and got to the corner turnbuckle while still landing some punches. She grabbed Phoenix's hair, stood on the top rope and then leaped off and smashed Phoenix's face into the mat.

After the break...

Cena and Triple H in the locker room hyping up their match at Night of Champions, and talking about their one and only match where Cena made Triple H tap out at Wrestlemania two years ago.

JBL comments about his match with John Cena which is next.

Back from the break...

Triple H is coming down to be guest commentator.

JBL vs. John Cena

This time there is no first blood stipulation to make this match interesting. Even Triple H while commenting about being out there to scout the match said "I'm not going to see anything here that I haven't seen before..." Triple H stood and held up the belt for the crowd, Cena turned to look at him and JBL jumped him from behind. He took control of the match briefly. Cena threw him into the corner and hit a bulldog. JBL turned it around again by pounding on Cena. JBL would go for a clothesline, Cena ducked and got him up on his shoulders for the FU, but JBL blocked it and got down right away. He then stepped to the outside to break the momentum. Where he turned and stared at Triple H who was now standing again. Into commercial...back from break... JBL smashes Cena's head into the announce table right in front of Triple H. Back into the ring JBL got a two-count. He then put him in a reverse headlock to wear him down, but Cena battled out of it. Cena was whipped into the ropes and JBL caught him in a sleeper hold as he came off. After being in the hold for a minute or two Cena powered out of it, and went to the ropes. He was met with a big boot to the face. He then missed another clothesline. Cena came off the ropes with a flying shoulder block and all the offense that leads into his Five Knuckle Shuffle. He then got him up for the FU, but JBL dug his fingers into the face and eyes of Cena to break it. He then came off the ropes with the Clothesline from Hell, and got a two-count before Cena barely got his foot on the bottom rope for the break. JBL then slipped out of the ring to the floor and slowly backed toward Triple H, or so it seemed. He was actually there to pull the cover off the announce table and remove the monitors, preparing it for some sort of move. He then went into the ring to get Cena, and Cena rolled him up for a three-count.

Winner: John Cena

Triple H climbed up onto the announce table and raised the belt again. Cena came down and stood face to face with him as they exchanged some words. Triple H climbed down, but before he left he swept Cena's feet out from under him, leaving him on his back on top of the announce table.

Time for The Highlight Reel with Chris Jericho and his special guest Shawn Michaels. In his introduction Jericho points out how he has looked up to him his entire life, and that he is a sort of mentor to him. Out came HBK. Jericho starts off by saying how he put on such a gutsy performance in the Stretcher Match, and even though he lost the fans all around the world still love him. Michaels questions whether or not Jericho had a question in there somewhere. Jericho went on to say how the fans will love Shawn no matter what he does, feigning a knee injury for a month, lying to Jericho, lying to Batista. Michaels stopped him and pointed out how the only person he lied to was Jericho. Jericho said regardless of all that when he admitted it and superkicked him in the face he got cheered more than ever, and said he is adored by the fans too, but could never get away with that one. Points out that whenever he tries to do the right thing, like not hit Shawn with a chair, not hit JBL with a chair, or tell the truth that he gets booed. Says how they would rather boo an honest man and cheer for Shawn. he then gets an HBK chant started to prove his point, and this all brings him to his question finally. "How does Shawn Michaels, HBK <insert a list of his accomplishments> turn into such a lying cheating pathetic worm of a human being? He then hits him with a clothesline and they fight a bit. Jericho gets backed into the corner, Michaels comes charging in and takes a low blow from Jericho's leg. He then picked Shawn up and rammed his head into the TV monitor hanging at the back of the ring. It shattered into hundreds of pieces. He leaves him laying in the ring as he walks back up the ramp.

Back from the break...

Snitsky & Umaga vs. World Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes and Hardcore Holly (Non-title)

Rhodes and Holly had control over Snitsky brielfy, but he turned it around using his power. He then tagged in Umaga who also overpowered the opponent but wasn't in the ring very long before he tagged Snitsky back in. Holly dropkicked Snitsky's knee. Both men made the tag. Rhodes used his speed and a few dropkicks at various heights to try and take down Umaga, it didn't work. Rhodes charged at him from the ropes and was caught by Umaga who then hit him with a Reverse Sidewalk Slam. He then picked him up and hit the Samoan Spike and got the three-count.

Winners: Snitsky & Umaga

As they are in the ring discussing the loss out comes Ted Dibiase (the younger). He pointed out how since he said his first match would be for their titles that they have had a bad run of luck, losing in back to back weeks. He went on to say that at Night of Champions there would be new World Tag Team Champions.

Back from the break...

A Sing-Off between Trevor Mudoch and Jillian. Murdoch sings Take the Money and Run, then Jillian stops him. She sings Money, That's What I Want. Luckily McMahon stops her.

Cryme Tyme image
Cryme Tyme gets Ayrtyme!

Santino Marella & Carlito vs. Cryme Tyme

Does someone from the WWE read this blog? If so woohoo, spread the word for me. Cryme Tyme has an actual match on Raw, yeah, yeah! Santino was dominated by JTG, then Shad tagged in and they hit the move that I would call similar to a reverse Alabama Jam. Shad gets JTG's feet while he is hanging down his back, and then slingshots him up and over crashing down onto their opponent. JTG gets a two-count then goes up to the top rope, Carlito distracts him momentarily, which leads to JTG missing his move. Santino turned it around and then got the tag to Carlito. they would continue to dominate with some fast tags. JTG broke free from Santino and got the tag to Shad who hit a powerslam on Santino and went for the pin, Carlito came in to break it up. JTG came running over to get Carlito but was sent over the top rope. He landed on the ring apron though and then danced and taunted Carlito who came charging at him. JTG pulled the rope down and Carlito went out to the floor. Meanwhile Shad hit Santino with a big boot, and a reversed Side Rusian Leg Sweep. He then got the three-count.

Winners: Cryme Tyme

Back from break...

This time John Cena came down to be guest commentator.

Jeff Hardy vs. WWE Champion Triple H (Non-title)

Hardy started off fast in this match and took control. He was relentless and battled back Triple H at every turn. Then he came off the ropes and Triple H hit him with a Spinebuster, and then got on top of him and started landing punches. Then into the ropes and off with a High Knee, then he hit a couple of knee drops and went for the pin, just a two-count. Triple H then put him in an abdominal stretch. The Game reached back and grabbed the rope, but the ref saw it and made him break the hold. He whipped him into the corner hard and Hardy fell to the mat, then he whipped him to the opposite corner with the same result. One more whip and then he charged in but was met with two boots to the face. Triple H would take control again looking over to Cena in between each big punch he landed. It backfired cause Hardy turned it around for a second, but then he went up to hit the Whisper in the Wind, but Triple H moved and he crashed to the mat. The Game then tossed Hardy over the top rope to the floor. he followed him out and smashed his head into the ring barrier a couple times. Then tried to Irish Whip him into it, Hardy reversed and sent him crashing into the ring barrier. As Hardy charged toward Triple H he was hip tossed right into Cena's lap, sending them both to the floor. Triple H threw Hardy back into the ring, but before he could climb back in Cena grabbed him from behind and threw him to the floor. The ref was already up to an eight count, so The Game got counted out right after.

Winner: Jeff Hardy via Countout

Cena waited for Triple H to get back to his feet and they were moving closer and talking as Jeff Hardy came flying over the top rope and down onto the both of them. Jeff Hardy is the only one left standing.

It wasn't exactly a great show again. Other than the Mania Giveaway, and Cryme Tyme having a match it was a mostly lackluster show. The next time I see JBL vs. John Cena I may actually change the channel! Want to make JBL exciting again? Put him in a match against Ron Simmons, or put them together to help resurrect your non-existent Tag Team Division. What a letdown after such a great TNA PPV on Sunday.
