WWE The Great American Bash – Naussau Coliseum, Uniondale, New York

Fatal Four-Way for the WWE Tag Team Championships
Champions John Morrison & The Miz vs. Curt Hawkins & Zach Ryder vs. Finlay & Hornswaggle vs. Jesse & Festus

This was a typical four-way match, each team took turns taking control of the match, then the two fan favorite teams took control again, and both had the chance to win, but in the end neither would win. Hawkins and Ryder would get the pin on Jesse and become the new champions. My prediction of Jesse and Festus becoming champions was incorrect this time, but some time in the near future I still think they will beat the new champs for the belts.

Winners and new WWE Tag Team Champions: Curt Hawkins & Zach Ryder

United States Championship Match
Champion Matt Hardy vs. Shelton Benjamin

This match wasn’t very exciting when it was on TV recently, and it was only marginally more exciting this time on a pay-per-view. My prediction that Shelton Benjamin would win was correct.

Winner and new United States Champion: Shelton Benjamin

Again they added filler to the PPV. This time by showing an interview with CM Punk from last week, followed by reairing clips from Smackdown and Triple H’s video.

ECW Championship Match
Champion Mark Henry accompanied by Tony Atlas vs. Tommy Dreamer accompanied by Colin Delany

The story of this match was sort of Mike Adamle’s idiocy. First he said Dreamer was a 14-time Hardcore champion, then he called a splash by Henry a World’s Strongest Slam. When or when will they get rid of him? Henry controlled most of the match, but Dreamer turned it around. He went to the ropes and was preparing to leap down onto Henry, but Colin Delany reached out, grabbed his arm and clotheslines him across the top rope. Henry then hit the slam, and got the pin. So much for this prediction. Now we will have to put up with an annoying feud between Dreamer & Delany.

Winner and still ECW Champion: Mark Henry

Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho

Started off as a not so good match. Lance Cade came down and interfered. Then Shawn Michaels was busted open right near his previously injured eye. Jericho took every chance her could to hit him in the eye. The ref kept pushing Jericho back so he could check the eye. Michaels kept pleading with the ref to not stop the match, with Jericho jumping in every once in awhile to beat on him some more. As Jericho held him in a headlock and pound on the open wound again and again the ref jumped in and physically removed Jericho from him, and then immediately stopped the match.

Winner: Chris Jericho

While they changed the wrestling mat that was now covered in Shawn Michaels blood they ran a commercial for SummerSlam, and then went to an interview with Edge.

WWE Divas Championship Match
Michelle McCool vs. Natalya

Michelle McCool image
Michelle McCool became the first ever WWE Divas Champion after making Natalya tap out.
Natalya put on the Sharpshooter, but Michelle got to the ropes to break the hold. Eventually Michelle McCool slapped on the Brazilian Heel Hook and Matalya tried to fight out but then finally submitted. I am happy this prediction didn’t turn out correct for me.

Winner and the first WWE Divas Champion: Michelle McCool

As she celebrated in the ring Chris Jericho came out to make an announcement. He wanted to tell people to save their ticket stubs because they had just seen Shawn Michaels’s last match. He went on to say he was just in the trainer’s room in the back and was told that Michaels has a detached retina.

Next a commercial for the new Ric Flair DVD, which btw you can buy through Amazon below.

World Heavyweight Championship Match
Champion CM Punk vs. Batista

This was a very good match, which was expected considering who was in it. There was plenty of action. Punk had an answer for almost everything that Batista threw at him, using a lot of kicks and speed to come back again and again. Just when it seemed Batista might be on the verge of winning the match down came Kane. He grabbed Batista from behind and whipped him into the steel ring post. He then climbed into the ring along with the burlap bag he has been carrying with him. He chokeslammed Punk and then left with the bag. Before he left, he asked again, “Is he alive or dead?”, and kicked a camera man again.

Winner via disqualification and still champion: CM Punk

Batista wasn’t happy and hit Punk with a Batista Bomb before he left the ring.

Time for intermission. Oh wait, it isn’t intermission, just the Cena – JBL match.

NYC Parking Lot Brawl
JBL vs. John Cena

JBL has changed a bit, nowadays he shows up for a parking lot brawl in his suit and carrying a crowbar. Somewhere in the back Ron Simmons just cringed, and said “Damn!” He got out and started hunting for Cena in the ring of cars that was setup. JBL climbed up on one car, and then the one across from it started up and Cena drove it into the front of the one he was standing on. Then Cena attacked him with a set of jumper cables, whipping and choking him with them. He then opened the hood of one of the cars, hooked one jumper cable to JBL’s “special area below his waist”, and the other end to the battery. It was funny, but yes WWE writers think our intelligence level has dropped far enough for us to think that this would do anything at all to JBL. Cena was then whipped into an open car door which snapped right off. By the way this NYV Parking Lot Brawl was taking place inside the backstage area, I guess maybe it was raining outside or something. JBL hit a swinging neckbreaker on the hood of a car, and then got a two count. He then threw Cena into the windshield of a car, and hit him with a DDT on the roof of the same car, leading to another two count. JBL continued to pummel Cena for a bit. He put Cena in the backseat of a car and then went back to his limo to retrieve a gas can, he then proceeded to pour the gas all over the outside of the car. He then lit it up, which led to who I am going to call Referee Captain Obvious to yell, “Fire! Fire!” Out came two guys with fire extinguishers who were standing just off camera. In the meantime the camera followed JBL who was walking over to get a forklift. Cena climbed out of the car and charged over to JBL before he had a chance to do anything with the forklift, then Cena took over. He stuffed JBL into the back of a car, and then the camera followed Cena over to get a forklift. He charged the car with the blades of the forklift, then backed up and lifted the car up and drove off with it. Where to you ask? Well out to the ringside area of course! Cena would hit the Five Knuckle Shuffle on the stage at the top of the entrance ramp. He then lifted him up for the FU, but hesitated, and moved toward the car he had just brought into the arena. This gave JBL the chance to counter and then shove Cena off the stage and into the windshield of the car. He then pinned him on the car.

Winner: JBL

Cena was a bit bloodied by the windshield. It seems his arm didn’t hit quite right and he really did get cut by the windshield.

Another commercial for SummerSlam.

WWE Championship Match
Champion Triple H vs. Edge

I didn’t expect I would be saying this, but the majority of the beginning of this match wasn’t very exciting. I may have even enjoyed the Cena-JBL match more. Triple H avoided a spear, and Edge countered a couple of tries at the Pedigree. Late in the match with both competitors down on the mat our came former wedding planner Alicia Fox. She went and got the WWE title and put it on the ring apron for Edge to grab and use, but as she turned around Vickie was charging at her and hit her with a bad looking clothesline. Vickie then took the belt and climbed into the ring. She shoved the referee out of the way, and looked to be ready to hit Edge with the belt, but Alicia came into the ring and started fighting with Vickie. The ref broke them up and was holding onto Alicia when Edge charged in for a spear. It is unclear just who he was trying to hit, but it hit Vickie. Edge was stunned, Triple H came up from behind him hit the Pedigree, and got the three count.

Winner and still WWE Champion: Triple H

Chavo Guerrero actually came down to the ring and was checking on Vickie.

Well, I must say woohoo, Morrison and Miz are no longer the champs! However Ryder & Hawkins aren't a whole lot better. Shelton Benjamin indeed did win the United States Title, and will probably hold it for a while. I am so not looking forward to Dreamer vs. Colin Delany. Could Shawn Michaels really be done? Could wrestling lose Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, and The Undertaker all in the same year? One would hope not, but it might be time.

Michelle McCool was a much better choice to be the first Divas champion than Natalya would have been. I can't wait till she defends it against Kelly Kelly in the near future.

There are sure to be more Punk - Batista matches coming up, which might get old fast.

For me the biggest surprise was the Cena-JBL match which was much better than I expected. Unfortunately Edge-Triple H will probably happen again. It wasn't a really bad match, but there are so many better options.

Again, the WWE copies bits and pieces of TNA, they should review how to do a three hour pay-per-view to give everyone a better overall show.

WWE Great American Bash Preview July 20, 2008

From the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York

WWE The Great American Bash Pay-Per-View

United States Championship Match
Matt Hardy vs. Shelton Benjamin

Benjamin got a pin on Matt Hardy just a couple of weeks ago, but it was a non-title match. Tonight the title is on the line, and I think Shelton will win the title to help further the companies move toward featuring African-American wrestlers more prominently. Mark Henry is proof enough they are pushing forward with their plan. If they could just give some a better gimmick, for example Cryme Tyme, they wouldn’t have to force the issue. Bobby Lashley leaving was a big blow, but the company is trying to push things too much I think.

Winner and new U.S. Champion: Shelton Benjamin

WWE Divas Championship Match
Michelle McCool vs. Natalya Neidhart

The design of the new Divas belt should give you an indication of who will become the first to hold the title. Notice the pink and black colors, remind you of anything? Maybe a well-known tag team? Did you say The Hart Foundation? If so you are correct. Natalya Neidhart will become the first WWE Divas Champion, even though I feel Michelle McCool deserves it more. It will lead to more battles between the two I am sure, with McCool winning it in the not so far off future.

Winner and the first WWE Divas Champion: Natalya Neidhart

Fatal Four-Way for the WWE Tag Team Championships
Champions John Morrison & The Miz vs. Finlay & Hornswaggle vs. Jesse & Festus vs. Curt Hawkins & Zach Ryder

This should turn out to be a rather good match. I think I will especially like the outcome. The chumps, oops, champs will finally lose the belts! Jesse & Festus will become the new Tag Team Champions of the World after Festus pins either Ryder of Hawkins.

Winners and new WWE Tag Team Champions: Jesse & Festus

ECW Championship Match
Champion Mark Henry with manager Tony Atlas vs. Tommy Dreamer

As much as you might think this will be no match at all, you might be surprised. Even Vince McMahon has some interest in history and nostalgia. I do believe with an almost home field advantage (Dreamer is from Yonkers, NY) that Tommy Dreamer will have that he will somehow manage to pull off the upset and once again become ECW Champion. I expect Colin Delany might have something to do with it, but one way or another I see Dreamer getting one more brief time on top of the ECW world before he finally hangs up his boots.

Winner and new ECW Champion: Tommy Dreamer

New York City Parking Lot Brawl
John Cena vs. JBL

This match will probably turn out to be nothing other than filler. Sure the parking lot brawl stipulation will add a little bit of excitement, but not much.

Winner: John Cena

Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho

Please see my above comments for the Cena-JBL match. This one will be slightly better though.

Winner: Shawn Michaels

World Heavyweight Chapionship Match
Champion CM Punk vs. Batista

This match will be pretty decent. In the end I see Punk retaining the belt, this time. Although they will face a time or two more with Batista eventually winning the belt.

Winner tonight and still World Heavyweight Champion: CM Punk

WWE Championship Match
Champion Triple H vs. Edge

In their first one on one match at a pay-per-view Triple H will be victorious. I have a hunch one of the women in Edge’s life might come down and somehow cost him the match and with it his title chances.

Winner and still WWE Champion: Triple H

Night of Champions – American Airlines Center – Dallas, Texas

WWE Tag Team Championship Match
Champions: John Morrison & The Miz vs. Finlay & Hornswaggle

Finlay controlled the match early until he was double teamed. He then fell in his own corner and Hornswaggle tagged himself in. Horny came in and took over on the Miz, until Morrison tripped as he bounced from the ropes. After a bit Miz and Morrison were crawling on their knees mocking Hornswaggle, and he leveled them. Hornswaggle eventually got the tag to Finlay who charged in and got a quick couple of near falls. He then hit the Celtic Cross and tagged Horny who climbed to the top for the Tadpole Splash, but in came The Miz to knock Finlay from the ring apron. Hornswaggle turned to see if he was ok and this gave Morrison the chance to get up and grab Hornswaggle by the shirt, he then slammed him to the mat and got the three count.

Winners and still WWE Tag Team Champions: John Morrison & The Miz

United States Championship Match
Champion: Matt Hardy vs. Chavo Guerrero accompanied by Bam Neely

The match went back and forth until Chavo hit a chop block. He then worked on the knee for some time. Neely helped as Chavo distracted the ref. Hardy tried to fight out but Chavo would block each attempt. Then Chavo went to the top rope and went for a Swanton, but Hardy moved and Chavo rolled through nicely, but was then hit with a clothesline. Hardy then hit a Side Effect and get a two-count. He then came off the second rope with an elbow, and another two-count. Hardy went to the ropes again, but this time Chavo grabbed his leg and brought him to the canvas and turned him over into a Half-Boston Crab. Hardy got to the ropes, and then hit Chavo with a DDT. As he went for the Twist of Fate, Chavo shoved him off into the ropes. As Chavo came back he got him into the Crab again, till Hardy got to the ropes again. Chavo then went for the Three Amigos to a round of boos. As Chavo went for the third suplex Hardy countered with the Twist of Fate and got the three count.

Winner and still U.S. Champion: Matt Hardy

Off to the commercial. . . wait this is a pay-per-view, get on with it! They reviewed this past Monday’s Million Dollar Mania and the “accident.”

Triple Threat Match for the ECW Championship
Champion: Kane vs. The Big Show vs. Mark Henry

Kane took over from the outset, but he couldn’t watch his back quite enough, and after throwing Henry from the ring Show came up behind him. They would battle back and forth till Show threw Kane over the top to the floor. Henry was then stalking Kane on the outside, but when he didn’t respond because it seemed like he may have been injured Henry climbed back into the ring. He and Show challenged each other’s strength. Show came out on top with a big bodyslam. At this point the trainers came down to check on Kane outside the ring, but they were waved away by Kane even though he was having trouble standing up. Meanwhile in the ring they were still battling, they both hit a clothesline at the same time sending them both to their backs. Kane got back in the match here by climbing to the top rope and coming in with a flying clothesline to Henry. He and Show then hit a double chokeslam on Henry. Show went for a pin, but Kane stopped it and went for one of his own, which was broken up by Show. Now these two were battling while Henry laid on the mat in the corner. As Kane tried to come in with another clothesline from the top The Big Show caught him in a chokeslam and got a near fall. He then hit a suplex and another two-count. With Kane laid out on the mat Show went out to climb to the top rope. Kane got up and suplexed him off the top rope. Henry was back up at this point and rushed over to hit Kane with a big splash. Henry got the three count!

Winner and New ECW Champion: Mark Henry

World Heavyweight Tag Team Championship Match
Champions: Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes vs. Ted DiBiase & ???

At the start of the match DiBiase grabs a mic and says how his partner just texted him and is going to be late. He wanted to delay the match and maybe schedule it for later in the night. The ref said no and either the match starts now or he forfeits. So they started the match two on one. Cody Rhodes was going to start but DiBiase said he wanted Holly instead. So Rhodes tagged in Holly. As holly entered the ring Rhodes hit him with a kick to the mid-section and a DTT. DiBiase then introduced Cody Rhodes as his partner. Dibiase tagged into the match and slapped on the Million Dollar Dream, hit a side Russian leg sweep, and got the three count.

Winners and new World Heavyweight Tag Team Champions: Ted DiBiase & Cody Rhodes

DiBiase becomes the first WWE Superstar to ever win a championship in his debut match, or so they say.

After the commercial we go to Todd Grisham interviewing JBL on why he isn’t on the card at Night of Champions. Oh look, it was another commercial…for JBL’s company this time.

Intercontinental Championship Match
Champion: Chris Jericho accompanied by Lance Cade vs. Kofi Kingston

Before the match Jericho has a mic and explains how he has a surprise opponent, and then goes on a rant. Then on came Kofi’s music. I was so close on picking who his opponent was! As I predicted a few weeks ago (although I said he would be beating Matt Hardy for U.S. gold) I think Kofi will be winning the belt. Jericho controlled the match early, as can be expected. He went to throw Kofi over the top rope but Kofi bounced off the ropes with his head and shoulders like he has been doing for a couple weeks now. He then followed with a whip to the ropes and a couple of high leap frogs, Jericho would roll out to the floor to avoid the impending contact. Kofi hit him with a dropkick through the ropes, then a flying crossbody block over the top rope. Kofi then rolled him back into the ring, climbed to the top rope and hit a flying crossbody block into a two-count. Kofi would charge in at Jericho in the corner and leap onto his shoulders, he was quickly dumped out onto the floor. Jericho would then ram his lower back into the ring apron. Jericho was back in control, but the fans were cheering Kofi on. He would get Kofi into an Abdominal Stretch, Kofi would battle out and hip toss Jericho to the mat. Jericho would shut Kingston down again though. He sat Kofi on the top rope and was going to try for a back suplex, but Kofi battled his way out and they both came crashing down to the mat with Kofi on top for the pin, it was just a two-count. Kingston mounted an offense finally using his fast-paced moves. He would got for the Boom Boom Boom legdrop, but as he jumped up Jericho grabbed his leg and tried to turn him into the Walls of Jericho. Kofi blocked it and rolled him up into a pin, once again just a two-count. He then hit a clothesline on Jericho, and delivered the legdrop, and another near fall. He whipped him into the corner, but as he charged in after him Jericho got a bott up into his face. As Jericho came out after him Kofi hit a Hurricanrana and another near fall. Jericho then took over again, hit the Lionsault, and then turned him over for the Walls of Jericho. At this point the crowd started going wild for some reason. . . Shawn Michaels was making his way through the crowd. He hit Cade with Sweet Chin Music, then headed into the ring. As he got on the ring apron Jericho knocked him off to the floor. As Jericho turned back around Kofi hit him with the Trouble in Paradise roundhouse kick to the head. This time he would get the three count!

Winner and new Intercontinental Champion: Kofi Kingston

Trainers were now down with Shawn Michaels, who by the way still had his eye all bandaged up, as Jericho stared out at him from the ring. As they walked Shawn up the ramp Jericho came out and started to follow as a gaggle of referees got between them. Jericho would break through with a punch to the injured eye. Shawn was now writhing on the floor.

To the back with Vickie and the wedding planner. In walks Ryder and Hawkins to get Edge. They question whether or not he can beat Batista. He assured them he needed no help, all he needs is the love of Vickie.

Time for the commercial. . . no really this time it was a real commercial that Vince McMahon and John Cena made for the new Gillette Fusion razor. You HAVE to see it, it is rather funny.

WWE Women’s Championship Match
Champion: Mickie James vs. Katie Lea Burchill accompanied by Paul Burchill

Mickie James controlled most of the match from the start, as she went to the top rope Katie Lea rolled out of the ring, and with the help of Paul took control. Katie Lea targeted Mickie’s shoulder and arm after she had landed on it the wrong way from a suplex. Mickie would battle back and take control briefly, until Katie Lea locked on a submission arm-bar. She was able to battle out again and again. Finally she hit a big DDT and got the pin.

Winner and still WWE Women’s Champion: Mickie James

World Heavyweight Championship Match
Champion: Edge vs. Batista

Batista was focused and determined. He controlled the match from the opening bell. He hit a Jackhammer and got a near fall. He then clotheslined Edge out to the floor, went out and rolled him back in. As Batista went to come back in Edge kicked him and then rammed his shoulder into the steel ring post sending Batista to the floor. Batista was standing on the floor leaning against the ring, and Edge came running in and hit a hard dropkick that sent him backwards over the ECW announce table. Batista would get back to the ring before the ten count, but Edge was firmly in control now. Every time Batista tried to mount an offense Edge would block it and keep control as he wore him down. Batista hit a clothesline which sent them both to the mat. Batista was first up and started overpowering Edge. He would get a near pinfall, hit a spear and get another two-count. As he went for the Batista Bomb, Edge countered and hit an Impaler DDT and got his own two-count. Edge was now setting him up for a spear, but as he charged in he took a boot to the head. Batista then climbed to the top rope and leaped off, as he came down Edge met him with a dropkick to the chest. As both competitors lay on the mat out came Ryder, Hawkins, and Vickie onto the ramp. Edge would charge in for another spear, but Batista leap frogged right over him, and hit a Spinebuster. As the ref was about to count three Vickie Guerrero was up and out of her wheelchair to pull him away from the count. Batista was now distracted by all of this and Edge tried charging in again for the spear. This time Batista side-stepped it and shoved Edge into the corner, shoulder first into the steel ring post, and out to the floor. When the ref got to a seven count Edge pulled him from the ring and hit him in a blatant attempt to get disqualified to save his belt. Vickie called for another referee, and the farce continued. Out came Chavo Guerrero in a ref’s shirt. As he walked down to ringside Batista reached out and grabbed Vickie Guerrero and dragged her into the ring. La Familia stood on the floor begging Batista to leave her alone, instead he lifted her high above his head and launched her out into the arms of Ryder, Hawkins, Bam Neely, and Chavo. As Batista turned back around Edge charged at him and hit him in the head with the belt. Chavo jumped in the ring and counted to three.

Winner and still Champion: Edge

They would help Vickie back into her chair and head back up the ramp.

Time for another commercial. The Great American Bash – July 20th.

Triple H entrance image
Triple H enters the ring to defend his WWE Title against John Cena at Night of Champions

WWE Championship Match
Champion: Triple H vs. John Cena

Triple H controlled Cena at every turn. Then to chants of “You Can’s Wrestle” Cena reversed a headlock, hit a shoulder tackle, and then a clothesline. They brawled a bit, then Cena hit a suplex and got a two-count. Cena hit a flying shoulder tackle, but then tried ti again and Triple H ducked sending Cena crashing to the mat and out to the floor. Triple H then started working on Cena’s lower back with a couple of knees, and a backbreaker, followed by a suplex and some elbow drops to the small of his back. He then whipped him hard into the corner, and again back to the other side. He got a near fall. Now they started exchanging blows. Cena whipped Triple H into the corner this time and charged in after him, but was met with a boot to the face. Cena turned it back around hit a couple of shoulder tackles all leading into the You Can’t See Me, but as he bent down over Triple H he raised his feet and kicked him back. Triple H followed with a high knee to the face, followed by the knee lift. He then went for the Pedigree but Cena blocked it and then came off the ropes from behind and drove his head into the mat. It was Cena’s turn to climb to the top rope, he hit a guillotine leg drop to the back of Triple H’s neck. He went for the STFU but Triple H blocked it. He then got him down again and wasted time looking at the fans before doing the You Can’t See Me, as he ran toward the ropes Triple H got back to his feet and met him with another high knee lift to the face. Triple H then hit a Spinebuster, and waited for him to get up. He moved in for the Pedigree, but Cena shoved him off into the corner again, this time Triple H flipped back over the top rope and down to the floor. When he hit he immediate grabbed his knee, and had trouble standing. It almost looked like he may have hyper-extended it. He rolled into the ring to break up the ten count, but then went back out to the floor to try and walk it off. Cena came out and chop blocked the knee. He then picked him up folded up the leg and drove the knee down into the steel ring steps. Rolled him back into the ring and then wrapped his leg around the ring post a couple of times. Another chop block. Cena kept tryng for the STFU, but Triple H wasn’t giving in and wouldn’t let him get it locked in. He came very close but before he had it cinched in Triple H was already holding the ropes. Cena then went for the FU, but Triple H got loose spun him around and hit the Pedigree. As he hit it he grabbed his knee in pain again, but managed to go for the pin, he would only get a two-count. Both men were on the mat and being counted now, but were both up at nine. Cena hit the FU, and got a two-count. This time they were up at the eight count. They would exchange blows again with the fans yelling boo when Cena landed a punch, and yay as Triple H landed his. Cena hit another side suplex and was going to try one more time for the Five Knuckle Shuffle, he finally got it done. He then waited for Triple H to get to his feet and went for the FU, but Triple H grabbed the top rope. The Game would try for the Pedigree again, but Cena counted and got him into the STFU. He didn’t have it quite locked in the right way though, and The Game got to the rope. Cena broke the hold and dragged him back to the center of the ring and tried to put it right back on him. Triple h countered though and slapped on a Crossface. (What I believe was a nice small tribute to Chris Benoit since the one year anniversary of that tragic event is near.) Cena would eventually stand up with Triple H on his back and shoulders and try for another FU, The Game landed some elbows to the head to get out of it. He hit the Pedigree again, and got the three count.

Winner and still Champion: Triple H

After the match Cena was holding his shoulder and pectoral area, walking out with the arm in the same position he had it when he tore the pec. Meanwhile Triple H immediately lowered the brace and padding from his knee that seemed hurt earlier. It will be interesting to see if they are alright or not.

Well it was a pretty good pay-per-view this time around. The only predictions I made that were correct were Mickie James, Ted DiBiase & partner, and Triple H all winning. As I said last time my TNA picks were way off, this is what makes the show even better, it isn’t all that predictable.

The match of the night, even though it was boring in certain spots, Kofi Kingston winning the Intercontinental Title from Chris Jericho. This also fulfills a prediction I made a while back, well halfway at least. I knew Kofi was about to become a champion, I just picked the wrong belt (U.S. Title).

The Triple H – John Cena rematch was rather good too. I can’t wait to see what they do to move a title back to Raw.

The Vickie Guerrero storyline needs to be killed and sent off to some remote place with the Kurt-Karen Angle Saga gong on in TNA. Although I suppose it is better than the storyline they are about to start playing up, the “Who tried to kill Mr. McMahon?” Part 2 storyline. Part one got pre-empted by the Benoit tragedy, and sure enough a year later he is ready to attempt it again. At least this time it is an “attempted to kill”, rather than “who killed” scenario. I bet it was J.R., no not Jim Ross who is ticked for being moved to Smackdown!, J.R. Ewing. After all they were in Dallas for the pay-per-view.

I also cannot wait for Tuesday night! We are going to see the Smackdown / ECW live show here in Tulsa. It is the first time they have come back here in almost two years, but they always put on a show just a step above the normal one when they are in Jim Ross’s home state of Oklahoma. The main event for the Smackdown portion of the show is a pretty good tag team match. New ECW Champion Mark Henry & Still Heavyweight Champion Edge (I think it was him as his partner in the commercial.) vs. Batista & The Big Show. I hope to have many pictures to share with everyone, and I am still debating on whether or not to post the Smackdown! results before the show airs on Friday.

WWE Night of Champions – from the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas

Night of Champions image

WWE Tag Team Championship Match
Champions: John Morrison & The Miz vs. Finlay & Hornswaggle

This match shouldn’t last all that long. Finlay will control a good bit of the match, other than the times that he is double teamed. Hornswaggle provides enough of a distraction to allow Finlay to recover and regain control. A shot from the shillelagh, a Tadpole Splash, and we have new WWE Tag Team Champions of the World.

Winners: Finlay & Hornswaggle

WWE Women’s Championship Match
Champion: Mickie James vs. Katie Lea Burchill

Katie Lea has scored two pinfalls in a row against Mickie James. Those pinfalls however were in tag matches. One on one Mickie James wins, even with the interference from Paul Burchill.

Winner: Mickie James

United States Championship Match
U.S. Champion: Matt Hardy vs. Chavo Guerrero

Chavo wins this one with ot without the help of Bam Neely to create a battle between the two now that Matt Hardy is on the ECW roster. It won’t really work though, since it won’t drum up as much interest as they think.

Winner and new U.S. Champion: Chavo Guerrero

World Tag Team Championship Match
Champions: Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes vs. Ted DiBiase, Jr. and a Mystery Partner

Rumors have been swirling that DiBiase’s partner might be D.H. Smith. I think they could make a really good team, and just might be what D.H. needs to get over, since WWE officials obviously don’t think his name and pedigree alone is enough. (Yet Natalya Neidhart’s is. This puzzles me.) My personal thoughts on his partner are this… 1)I would LOVE to maybe see a Mike Rotunda, Jr. come walking out, if there is one out there. They can even call him I.R.S, Jr. if they really want to. I doubt this will happen, but my other idea is a good one. Introducing your NEW Heavyweight Tag Team Champions of the World (said in my best Road Dogg voice) Ted DiBiase, Jr. & Jimmy Snuka, Jr. (with no leather jacket, jeans or t-shirt of course. . . maybe a leopard print pair of spandex shorts).
I believe DiBiase and whoever his partner turns out to be will win the match and the belts.

Winners: Ted DiBiase & ???

Triple Threat ECW Championship Match
Champion: Kane vs. The Big Show vs. Mark Henry

Let’s see, in the draft Kane got shipped to Raw, Show and Henry are technically on Smackdown!, so the winner is. . . the ECW Roster. I think Show comes out as the ECW Champion and moves over to Tuesday nights while wrestling more on the other two shows. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of these gargantuan gets injured, it just seems to happen when you get guys this big together in pairs, nevermind in threes.

Winner: The Big Show

World Heavyweight Championship Match
Champion: Edge vs. Batista

Finally Edge loses the belt and there isn’t a thing Vickie can do about it! Batista takes his belt and heads off to his new home on Raw. Once there John Cena gets another title shot. Edge throws a tantrum, but we all knew that he would do that anyway.

Winner: Batista

WWE Championship Match
Champion: Triple H vs. John Cena

Triple H takes his WWE title to Smackdown! with him. Cena can’t get it done this time, but as I stated above he gets an almost immediate shot at Batista’s new belt. After Edge’s tantrum he too gets a title shot against Triple H, but he will soon realize that Triple H’s REAL marriage to a McMahon trumps his fake pending marriage to a Guerrero.

Winner: Triple H

That is it for the schedule matches they have advertised, but there is also the Intercontinental Championship held by Chris Jericho, and the new Divas belt for Smackdown!. I think they will throw Jericho into a title match, possibly against one of Raw’s newest members, C.M. Punk. I also think Punk would win the match if they did. If they have the Divas Title match at the pay-per-view I think it would have to be Michelle McCool vs. Natalya, with an outside shot at a triple threat match including Kelly Kelly. The winner is Michelle McCool either way.
