WWE Hall of Fame Show is Annoying
April 7th 2011 06:23
Every year I get upset with the WWE Hall of Fame show that gets aired on television. They air an hour long show, but the actual show is MAYBE 30 minutes at most with all the commercials, and plugs for one WWE thing or another. Why can't they work out a deal where we get to see the entire induction ceremony on TV?
What makes it even worse is they don't always choose the right inductees to show. For example this year we got to see three inductees on TV.
The whole 2011 WWE Hall of Fame Class:
Bullet Bob Armstrong - inducted by his kids.
Abdullah The Butcher
Hacksaw Jim Duggan
Sonny - inducted by Lay-Cool
The Road Warriors / Legion of Doom - Hawk, Animal, and Paul Ellering - inducted by Dusty Rhodes
Drew Carey - inducted by Kane
Shawn Michaels - inducted by Triple H
Now other than the few short clips with each of the inductees saying thank you for inducting me we got to see the full portion of just three inductees.
Those three were The Road Warriors, Drew Carey, and of course Shawn Michaels.
The Road Warriors induction was a bit emotional since Hawk is no longer with us. Ellering at one point pulled out a Hawk action figure and put it on the podium n front of them though. It was a great moment.
Next up was Drew Carey whos thank you was simple and short. The ONLY reason he was on TV and possibly the only reason he was added in as filler to the Class of 2011 was so they could plug his new show Improvaganza.
Then we moved on to Triple H inducting his great friend Shawn Michaels. This was great. He started with some comedy, then got emotional, and then finally introduced him. Shawn was once again in the spotlight where he deserved to be and has always loved to be throughout his entire career. In the end he went down to hug and kiss his kids and wife. Then he got back up on the stage and he and Triple H called out a couple others. Out came X-Pac and Kevin Nash.
I kind of expected some sort of a DX reunion. I even mentioned it in my Wrestlemania XXVII Preview post. X-Pac had been interviewed by Joey Styles the day before WM, and The Roadd Dogg was there to help induct his father Bullet Bob Armstrong, which is why I thought there might be a reunion.
I was a bit shocked that The Road Dogg didn't get to come out at the end for the hug with the other four. I guess he just felt so screwed over the years that he an Mr. Ass/Billy Gunn/Kip James/Monty Sopp just didn't want any part of that reunion. And instead Dogg said he was there to induct his dad and that was all.
While I liked Shawn and LOD's segments I REALLY wanted to see all the Armstrong kids inducting their dad. I also heard that Lay-Cool bombed badly during their introduction of Sonny. Why can't we see that? That'd be good TV!
