ECW from Des Moines, Iowa

Show started off with GM Armando Estrada in the ring with Tommy Dreamer, Chavo Guerrero, John Morrison, and C.M. Punk. He announced that one of them will be the #1 contender. The match at One Night Stand he described as "An every man burning cell fatal fourway Singapore cane match". Your guess is as good as mine as to what that means. If you have any idea what the match will be please post a comment explaining it for all our readers. Estrada then put them into a tag match for tonight, Morrison & Chavo vs. Dreamer & Punk.

Unfortunately, next up was The Miz in the ring. Ironically to talk about the headache he has had since Judgement Day thanks to Kane, rather than the headache he gives us all. As he talked more, Kane spared us and started coming to the ring for the match.

The Miz vs. ECW Champion Kane

Kane controlled the match from the bell up until the Miz shoved him backwards into the steel ring post. Kane hit his head hard and the Miz took advantage, briefly. Kane would take control again, and would hang Miz in the corner for the Tree of Woe. KAne would then go outside the ring and grab his head pulling back until the ref disqualified him. He then followed with a chokeslam, and by putting the Miz's head into the opening of a steel chair. As he climbed to the top rope John Morrison came running down to drag his tag team champion partner to safety.

Winner: The Miz via Disqualification

Kofi Kingston vs. Shelton Benjamin (Part III)

Kofi has beaten Shelton twice in their previous two matches. It was time for the third matchup. I feel it is probably building to some form of and extreme rules match at One Night Stand, perhaps a ladder match. Shortly after this match started Benjamin caught Kingston as he charged into the corner. It didn't look like he had a hold of him quite the right way. He went and flung him into the other corner legs first. To me it looked like it didn't hit right, as his knee landed squarely on the turnbuckle pad, which caused Kofi to roll around writhing in pain. Kingston would slowly try to make a comeback, which came to a head with a hard sudden dropkick. When he went for the "boom, boom, boom" move Benjamin jumped up to catch him and put him into a pin. Then Kofi attempted to hit his Trouble In Paradise roundhouse kick finisher, but Benjamin moved out of way, then grabbed him for a face plant type maneuver and the pin.

Winner: Shelton Benjamin

Next out, in an attempt to make the Colin Delaney situation work... We have a mixed tag team match.

Colin Delaney & Kelly Kelly vs. Mike Knox & Leyla

This match started off with Kelly Kelly showing off her new ring prowess which has been improving each week. She is definitely being trained by someone, somewhere. She quickly went for a pin which was broken up by Knox. Delaney came in to confront Knox and was thrown far from the ring, Knox followed him out. This gave Kelly Kelly the chance to hit a guillotine leg drop and pin Leyla. Annoying new commentator Mike Adamle called it the K-2.

Winner: Kelly Kelly and Colin Delaney

Down came Armando Estrada in his wrestling gear again to have "an official match" with a beaten down Delaney again. The match was over quicker than the previous one which couldn't have lasted more than two or three minutes.

The former ECW Champions tag team main event was up next.

Tommy Dreamer & C.M. Punk vs. John Morrison & Chavo Guerrero

This match went back and forth for a bit, nothing too exciting. Probably because we have seen all of these guys fight one another many times before, with the possible exception of Dreamer vs. Chavo, which off the top of my head I don't remember ever seeing. Finally someone would take control of the match when Morrison on the floor would put Punk on his shoulders and hit hi with an Electric Chair move onto the floor. While they kept the Straight-Edge Superstar on their half of the ring and away from a tag for awhile, it was only a matter of time before he got the tag to Dreamer. Punk hit Chavo with a round kick to the head, but Morrison got in quick enough to stop the tag again. Punk would then get Tommy into the match with a tag. He came in with a flurry of offense, which Morrison put on pause as he tried to go for his Snapshot finisher, but Dreamer turned it into a DDT followed by a pin attempt. Chavo broke it up at two, but was then met with a charging Punk clothesline which took them out of the ring. Dreamer hung Morrison on the Tree of Woe and hit him with his patented flying dropkick to the head. Chavo tagged in and hit Tommy with a frog splash and the pin.

Winner: Chavo Guerrero & John Morrison

The music that started playing however, was not that of Chavo or Morrison, but of The Big Show. He was obviously a bit ticked off that he, being a former ECW Champion also was not in the match at One Night Stand. He started by chokeslamming Chavo, then Punk, put Morrison in a chicken-wing like hold and then flinging him across the ring. He then grabbed the microphone and confirmed he was upset at not being in the match. He said he was putting himself into the match at One Night Stand. Then he checked on Dreamer, or so it seemed. Dreamer was then also chokeslammed to the mat.

It was yet another lackluster ECW episode, with the only real bright spots being Kelly Kelly's continued improvement in the ring, and an appearance by The Big Show. Am I the only one craving anything resembling the original ECW? The only time we get "Extreme" is during One Night Stand, and maybe one or two matches throughout the year otherwise. Also, the new idea of an "Extreme Rules Match" which is appearing for this PPV are not exactly what I am looking for. First Blood, Last Man Standing? What about just a match where anything goes, anywhere? Maybe use some tables, ladders, or chairs. Oh my! How I long for a Taz vs. Sabu-like match.

Tune in Thursday for out TNA Impact Wrap Up.
