TNA Victory Road Pay-Per-View Results & Highlights July 13, 2008

From the Reliant Arena in Houston, Texas

The first match was a World X Cup 12-Man Elimination Match

Team TNA – Chris Sabin / Alex Shelley / Curry Man
Team Japan – Milano Collection A. T. / Masato Yoshino / Puma
Team Mexico – Ultimo Guerrero / Rey Bucanero / Averno
Team International – Alex Koslov / Doug Williams / Tyson Dukes

This was a fast-paced dun match, as expected. It did have its bad moments though. There were a couple times when say a Team Mexico wrestlers timing was off a bit from Doug Williams from England, who had probably never seen one another before this tournament. In this match wrestlers were eliminated one by one, via pinfall or submission. The winner’s team would receive 3 points, runner-up’s team 2, and the second runner-up’s team 1 point.

Order of Elimination:
Tyson Dukes
Puma
Milano Collection A.T.
Averno
Curry Man
Doug Williams
Ultimo Guerrero
Rey Bucanero
Chris Sabin

The final three competitors were now Masato Yoshino, Alex Koslov, and Alex Shelley. My pick for the final three was entirely wrong, but at least I got the final member of Team Japan picked correctly. Koslov hit Shelley in the back of the head, sending him to the floor. Yoshino then whipped Koslov into the ropes, but the Russian ducked a clothesline and then did a somersault over the top rope and down onto Shelley. Yoshino came off the top rope, but Koslov jumped up to meet him halfway and nailed him with a kick to the back of the head. Yoshino wrapped Koslov into an interesting submission hold, I want to say he tapped, as Mike Tenay had said, but his hands and head were so wrapped up there was no way for him to literally tap out. Either way, he submitted. Team International earns 1 point. Yoshino took over with his speed at this point, which lead to a two-count. Shelley turned it around quickly with a superkick that landed right under Yoshino’s chin. Shelley then hit the Sliced Bread move and went for the pin, but Yoshino kicked out at two. Yoshino got another near fall, then Shelley hit a tiger suplex that folded yoshino in half, into a bridge and pin, but he kicked out again. Shelley put him up in the top turnbuckle, then hit another superkick. As he went up after him though, Yoshino fought out and hit what Tenay called a “necktie” which sent Shelley down to the mat for another two-count. Now Yoshino brought Shelley to the top rope and Shelley fought out, hitting an inverted atomic drop from the top rope. He followed it with a Celtic Cross into a pin. This time he got the three count.

Winner: Team TNA’s Alex Shelley - 3 Points for his team.

Yoshino scored 2 points for Team Japan.
World X Cup Standings with just the Ultimate X Match left to go:
Team TNA – 6 points
Team Japan – 4 points
Team International – 3 points
Team Mexico – 3 points

Next up they reviewed the list of matches scheduled for the rest of the night.

Following the review was part one of Booker T’s homecoming. He started off by showing up around his house. Including a display of some of his “most-prized possessions” which were laying on a table. There was his championships of wrestling companies past, his trophy for TNA’s Most Memorable Moment, and the key to the city (Houston). Next we said hello to Sharmelle, then onto all of his awards hanging on the wall. We passed through the kitchen on our way out to see his half a dozen or so cars, and his traveling RV.

Angelina Love accompanied by Velvet Sky vs. Gail Kim

While Gail was playing to the crowd during her ring entrance Love jumped her from behind, Gail Kim fought right back though and was first to take control of the match. It was short-lived though as she was sent to the ring apron where Velvet grabbed her foot and sent her crashing face first into the mat. She then rolled Gail back into the ring where Angelina tried for a pin a couple of times, followed by choking her a bit. They fought back and forth quite a bit. Love threw a tantrum at one point after Kim kicked out three times in a row. Gail would then drag her to the corner ring post and attempt to put on the Figure Four Leglock with Love’s legs wrapped around the post, and Kim standing on the floor. Velvet Sky would jump her from behind again, but Gail would fight her off and head to the top rope, but Velvet shook the top rope sending Gail to a sitting position on the top rope. This gave Love a chance to climb up and hit her with a Superplex, followed by another near fall. Kim hit a couple of clotheslines, and a dropkick, but as she scooped her up for a bodyslam Love threw her off balance and got behind her. She rolled her up for a pin, but Kim kicked out at 2 again. Gail then charged her and hit a spear, she was then distracted by Velvet on the ring apron. When she trned back around Love was there waiting, Kim blocked the move. This all led to Kim hitting a neckbreaker and the three count.

Winner: Gail Kim

As Gail celebrated Velvet hit her from behind again. They began beating her down, trying to set her up for the Brown Paper Bag Treatment, but after they whipped her into the ropes Gail came back and ducked under their clothesline and rolled out of the ring.

To the back with Lauren and BG James with the twelve fans that will participate in the fan’s revenge match. BG was getting them fired up for the match by whipping a mannequin dressed like James Storm.

Grudge Match
Jay Lethal accompanied by So. Cal Val vs. Sonjay Dutt

Sonjay brought out a single rose and a card for Val, and gave it to her before the match. After Lethal knocked him to the floor he went over and ripped up the card. As I expected about halfway through the match Val’s concern seemed to switch from Lethal to Dutt. He was asking her to help him, and she actually started walking up the ring steps toward the ring which got Lethal’s attention. He turned to talk to her, and as he turned back around Dutt was there to hit a clothesline. Dutt crawled over and told Val that he loved her. Lethal grabbed him and hit the Lethal Combination. At this point Val came back up the steps and Lethal turned to talk to her again, Dutt came up behind him and rolled him up for the three count. As Sonjay left the ring he kissed Val on the hand, Lethal just looked stunned.

Winner: Sonjay Dutt

To the back with JB and Beer Money, Inc.. After their endless ramblings they went to head out to the ring, but Jackie said she wasn’t going down there with them because of the fans with the belts.

Fan’s Revenge Match for the TNA Tag Team Titles

Beer Money – Robert Roode & James Storm vs. LAX – Homicide & Hernandez accompanied by Hector Guerrero & Salinas

Down came the twelve fans all carrying their belts, and coincidentally all wearing LAX shirts and high-fiving LAX as they came out. Roode was the first one to be thrown to the floor where four of the guys started whipping him right away. Roode would roll back into the ring and crawl over to James Storm where he grabbed a hold of his legs and hugged them. James Storm then tossed Homicide out to the floor where the fans welcomed him. Homicide walked over and got a drink from Storm’s beer, as well as sharing it with one of the fans. Storm instinctfully went out after him, but was immediately whipped as he ran around the ring. Storm would end up in the ring hugging Roode’s legs this time. Homicide would try to send Storm over the top rope to the floor again, but Storm held onto the top rope and pulled himself back into the ring. As he turned to Homicide in the ring Hector grabbed his feet and dragged him out to the floor. This time Storm made his lap around the ring in the other direction. Homicide was sent to the floor by Roode this time, as he stood there Roode came at him with a baseball slide, but Homicide pulled out the ring skirting and got Roode caught in between it and the ring, just like Finlay always does. This allowed the fans to have a few good shots at him before Roode could duck down and under the ring. He came out the other side of the ring and took another shot or two before getting back in the ring. Homicide hit the Three Amigos to a chant of “Eddie, Eddie, Eddie”. Amazing how someone not at all related to you can get cheers for using the move, but yet Eddie’s cousin Chavo gets booed when he uses it. Roode finally got things turned around with a sudden Spinebuster. At this point Beer Money used some quick tags and double teams to dominate the match. Homicide turned it around with a T-Bone Suplex which allowed him to get the tag to Hernandez. Hernandez, who by the way is from Houston, took over. He hit both members of Beer Money with move after move, until he was knocked back into the corner and to the mat after a flying forearm from Storm. Hernandez pulled him self up onto the top rope from a sitting position. Roode and Storm climbed up to the top rope going for what looked like might be a double DDT, but Hernandez fought them both off and sent them down to the mat. He then leaped off with a big splash onto Roode, Storm would break up the count at two. Storm then went after Homicide on the top rope, but instead Homicide hit a Tornado DDT. He then went after Roode who shoved him off into the ropes, but as Roode charged in he pulled the top rope down sending Roode to the floor where he was whipped by a handful of the fans, he got back in the ring quickly. Homicide then climbed to the top rope while Hernandez picked up Roode onto his shoulders. Homicide came off the top rope and hit a Diamond Cutter, followed by a Hernandez pin.

Winners and still TNA Tag Team Champions: LAX

Onto part 2 of the Booker T homecoming. We are now headed to The Booker T Pro Wrestling Alliance, which by the way was a big reason behind his departure from the WWE. Suddenly Vince didn’t want the PWA promoted, and didn’t want his talent going to Houston for shows with the PWA students and talent. They showed clips of high praise from his students.

TNA Knockouts Championship Match
Champion: Taylor Wilde vs. Awesome Kong accompanied by Raisha Saeed

This match seemed very similar to their other matches from the start. Kong dominated early, Taylor got out of the Awesome Bomb and mounted an offense. This time however, Kong shutdown the offense of Wilde with a clothesline and then climbed the ropes. While she was sitting on the top rope Wilde climbed up alongside her and connected with a few elbows to the head. She then hooked Kong’s arm and leaped off, hitting Kong with an arm drag from the top rope. She got a two-count out of it. Kong got up and connected with the punches, setting up for the spinning back fist. As she spun Taylor caught her from behind and rolled her into a pin again, only this time Kong kicked out at two. Kong grabbed Wilde and set her up for the Implant Buster, but she countered, Kong then countered that by trying to go for a chokeslam. Wilde countered that and rolled Kong up for the three count.

Winner and still TNA Knockouts Champion: Taylor Wilde

As Wilde walked up the ramp celebrating Saeed attacked her from behind and dragged her back down and threw her in the ring. Saeed and Kong started beating on her. Kong hit the Implant Buster this time, and then went for the Awesome Bomb. Saeed stalled her while she went out to get a steel chair. As Saeed got back in the ring with the chair Abyss’s music came on. He came down to save Wilde this time. While Kong was standing toe to toe with Abyss, Saeed got in between them and got Kong to get out of the ring. Then Saeed turned back around to Abyss and got in his face. She then slapped him across the face. Abyss turned back around and hit Saeed with the Black Hole Slam. He then carried Taylor Wilde back up the ramp.

Now for part 3 of Booker T’s Homecoming. We start off in one of Booker T’s businesses, a restaurant named Sharmelle’s. We see a clip of him telling the manager to make the portions smaller, and to water down all of the booze. He then goes through a list of other businesses he owns, and talks about what the TNA Title would mean to his franchise. Then Sharmelle points out how they didn’t put the apples in her salad. He walks off to yell at someone as the clip ends.

World X Cup Final Round – Ultimate X Match

Team TNA Kaz vs. Team Mexico Volador, Jr. vs. Team Japan Naruki Doi vs. Team International Daivari

The winner of this match will receive four points. This means whichever team wins this match will win the World X Cup.

This match started off a little slow, but WOW what a finish it had. It was failed attempt after failed attempt to get to the X, with one fighting off the other just in the nick of time. Then Doi got sent out to the floor, and Volador hit a backwards moonsault from the top rope down onto him. This left them both laid out on the floor. Meanwhile on the other side of the ring Kaz and Daivari both began climbing the same tower in the corner. When they reached the top they exchanged blows back and forth. As Kaz tried to hang on, Daivari started to crawl across the rope hanging from both his hand and legs. When he was halfway across the rope Kaz launched himself off the top of the tower, hitting Daivari with a leg drop across the throat. They both crashed to the matc from 15 feet in the air. Kaz landed awkwardly on his hip. As they both lay in the ring in came Volador who climbed across the ropes and unhooked the X to win the match and the 2008 World X Cup for Team Mexico.

Winner: Volador, Jr.

In the ring Team Mexico celebrates as Mike Tenay tries to interview them through Willie Urbina.

Time for part 4 of Booker T’s Homecoming. This time he is out on his golf course, and of course he was using Booker’s Tees. He guarantees they will knock five or six strokes off your game. They interview some guy who says, “Booker T’s golf game is phenomenal to quite-phenomenal. Rivaling uhh, what’s that guy’s name, Tiger Woods.” Booker then goes on and on about how he is going to beat Samoa Joe.

Now Frank Trigg is out at the announce table to help call the Six-Man Tag Match

The fans voted, and the stipulation of the match was indeed Full Metal Mayhem.

Kurt Angle, and Team 3D – Brother Ray & Brother Devon vs. A.J. Styles, Christian Cage, and Rhino

As A.J. came down the ramp Angle ambushed him and the match had begun. They were fighting everywhere. Cage was the first one to use a weapon, a trash can to Brother Ray’s skull, twice. Rhino and Christian brought in a ladder and took out Team 3D, but then Angle came in with a chair and hit Rhino across the back, jabbed it into Cage’s ribs, and then across the head. Angle then hit a release belly to belly suplex on Cage, sending him crashing down into a ladder. After some more action, A.J. Styles was on the top rope holding an open ladder in front of him. He launched himself to the top of the ladder and then came down with a flying forearm onto Brother Ray. Devon pulled the ref out of the ring at the two-count. Now all three of them were in the ring beating on A.J.. Christian then climbed to the top of one of the towers from the Ultimate X match and jumped off hitting a flying cross body block on all three of his opponents. He chose Kurt to pin, but he kicked out at two. Christian then picked up a ladder, but Ray got to him with a chair before he could use it. Ray then hit Styles across the back with the chair. Rhino then came back in and hit a trio of Gores to all three men. Rhino then went out after a table, which he set up in the center of the ring. He sat Devon on top of the ropes, and climbed up after him. Ray came up from behind him and started hitting him in the back. Ray got Rhino onto his shoulders, and Devon came off the ropes with a clothesline, sending Rhino crashing into the table. Devon landed bad on his ankle. Ray pinned Rhino, but Christian broke up the pin. Christian and Angle would reverse move after move until Angle got the ankle lock on him. Cage rolled him into a pin, but he kicked out. Cage then went to the top rope Angle followed, but was shoved back down. Then Devon got Cage from behind, he and Ray hit the 3D through a table setup on the floor. Back in the ring A.J. was beating on Angle, but Ray came in and hit him with a trash can from behind. They were now going to triple team A.J., but he ducked a clothesline from Kurt, it instead hit Devon. Styles then hit a kick to the back of Angle’s head. He continued to kick and pound Devon and Kurt, while Ray was trying to set up another table in the ring. When A.J. went after Ray he fought him off, and Ray hit A.J. with a nice superkick to the face. Yes, that’s right I said Ray lifted his leg high enough to hit a superkick to A.J.’s face. Devon now limping badly kept A.J. busy while Ray set the table up on edge in the corner. Devon then went out to the floor while ray took over beating on A.J.. He slid in another table for Ray to set up. Ray laid Styles out on this table and went up to the second rope. As Ray played to the crowd a little, A.J. got up, hit Ray with a low blow, and then leaped backwards pulling Ray down face first into the table. Devon charged at Styles who hit a drop toe hold, sending Devon crashing into the table that was in the corner. Now Angle came up behind Styles and tried for the Olympic Slam, but A.J. reversed it and rolled him into a pin, or so it seemed. Instead he lifted him up and hit the Styles Clash and turned him over for a pin, but only got the two-count. In came Johnny Devine with a Kendo Stick. He swung and missed as Styles ducked and then hit the Pele Kick. Styles grabbed the kendo stick and hit Devine over the head with it. He then turned and pointed the Kendo Stick at Frank Trigg. Angle came up from behind him and hit the Olympic Slam, into a pin. Styles kicked out at two. Angle went out for another table. He set up a ladder near the ropes. He turned and shoved referee Earl Hebner who tripped over a table and hurt his ankle. Kurt then set the table up in the middle of the ring, perpendicular to the ladder. For safety you can see Ray reach up and hook the ladder over the top of the bottom rope, since Angle failed to do that. Angle went for the slam again, this time onto the table, but A.J. blocked it and slammed Angle’s head into the table. He laid Angle out on the table and headed up the ladder, as Mike Tenay and Don West point out that Trigg was getting up and heading to the ring with the Kendo Stick. As A.J. got to the top of the ladder Trigg hit him in the head with the Kendo Stick. Angle climbed up behind A.J. and set him up for the Olympic Slam. They crashed down through the table, and Angle got the three count.

Winners: Kurt Angle, and Team 3D

To the back with JB and Samoa Joe. JB points out how Booker has al these people here in his hometown, and asks about his doubt on whether or not he can beat Booker T. As Joe points out he has never doubted himself out comes Kevin Nash. Nash says how he is in Joe’s corner and on his side tonight. Joe tells him that if he is truly his partner and on his side that no matter what happens in the ring, no matter what he sees, he stays in the back and does not come out to the ring. Those comments cannot be good. I feel the need to point out at this stage of the night we have yet to see Sting in Houston.

TNA Championship Match
Champion: Samoa Joe vs. Booker T

Booker T TNA Wrestler image
Is Booker T the new TNA Champion?
They fought back and forth with Joe coming out on top again and again in the early moments of the match. Then Booker threw Joe out to the floor where they fought, Booker T took control using the guard rail, a clothesline, and then the steel ring steps. The shot to the steps busted Joe’s forehead wide open, he was bleeding everywhere. Booker went right after the wound, delivering shot after shot to it. Booker missed a back heel kick which let Joe mount some offense, but Booker took over right away with an Axe Kick. He then hit the back heel kick, and went for the pin, but Joe kicked out at two. They exchanged punches, then went bouncing on the ropes, culminating with a knee to Booker’s face. Joe then came off the ropes with a leg to Booker, and got a two-count. Booker hit him and then went to the ropes, as he came back Joe hit him with a snap bodyslam. Booker then went for a Bookend, but Joe blocked it and hit a T-Bone Suplex, and got a two-count. Joe then tried to sit Booker on the top rope, but he blocked it. They would both duck a move or reverse one, this cause Booker to go off into referee Rudy Charles, knocking him to the mat. Joe waited for Booker to stand up and hit him with a clothesline. He then threw Booker over the top rope to the floor. He sat him down in a chair near the guard rail right in front of Sharmelle, he got a running start and came up with a big boot smashing Booker’s head into the guard rail. He smashed Booker’s head into the steel ring post. Then Sharmelle was begging him to stop, as joe pulled away from her she slapped him across the face. Joe turned and moved towards her but the group of either bodyguards or Booker’s wrestling students moved towards Joe and he hit a few of them. He then turned back to Booker and rolled him into the ring. Booker was now busted wide open. Two more refs came out, Joe clotheslined one, and hit the other with a DDT. Sharmelle now climbed over the guard rail as two other officials got in the ring, but thought better of it and left the ring on their own while motioning to the back for someone to come out. As Joe turned Booker was coming at him and he just shoved him to the mat. Out came security, Joe punched each one as they came in, then the fourth one he hit with a belly t belly suplex. Now Sharmelle came into the ring, still begging for Joe to stop. She then turned and screamed to the back for someone to help. Joe put Booker in a Rear Naked Choke. Then finally Sting’s music came on, and out came the Icon. Joe stood up and stared at him for a minute, but then turned around and started pounding on Booker again. Sting told him he was going too far, he has done what he needed to do. Sting turned to walk away, and Joe was following at first. Joe then turned around and ran back into the ring. Sting came in and physically pulled Joe off of Booker and said that’s enough, you made your point. Joe looked at him, gave him the finger, and then turned back to Booker. Sting spun him around, jabbed the bat into his mid-section, then hit him across the back with it. At this point Booker was sitting up, and Joe was on his back. Booker reached over and pinned Joe, as Sharmelle counted to three. As Booker and Sharmelle left the ring they took the belt with them.

The end the broadcast with a commercial for the next pay-per-view, Hard Justice, August 10th. The show will include F.I.L.T.H.E.E. , Ice-T, and Grandmaster Caz performing live.

Now that was a pay-per-view! If the WWE wants to watch TNA and take bits and pieces to incorporate into their own shows, as they always do, they should watch this pay-per-view, which btw only cost $29.95. the WWE PPVs cost $39.95, and usually only have half the action.

The World X Cup matches turned out to be pretty amazing, and Daivari even added to the excitement, I didn’t expect that. Just another case of the WWE’s gimmicks holding a wrestler back. Quite a few of these World X Cup competitors should get an actual TNA contract. Yoshino, Doi, Volador, Jr. and maybe even Alex Koslov, and Doug Williams.

The Fan’s Revenge match was also pretty fun. With LAX involved I knew it would be exciting, but with Roode and Storm getting whipped it was even better. I was surprised Jackie who is also from Texas didn’t go down to the ring.

The Full Metal Mayhem match was really good too. I know it doesn’t sound right, but Christian is very under-rated. The only part of the match I didn’t like was how for almost the whole second half of the match it was just A.J. Styles in the ring, while Rhino and Cage were laid out on the floor.

The Joe-Booker match was much better than I expected too. I don’t think I can remember the last time I saw Booker T bleed in a match. I am not really sure I understand how the end of the match went. I mean why was there refs, officials, and security coming out to stop the match. Why not just one of the refs coming out so the match could finish? Now all we have is Booker T carrying around a belt he didn’t win. I was expecting some sort of match between Joe and Nash coming soon, now instead it looks like it will be Joe feuding with Sting. Another possibility would be a tag match with Joe and Nash tagging against Sting and Booker T. The best option of them all might be a fatal four way match between them for the belt.

World X Cup 12-Man Elimination Match

Team TNA – Chris Sabin / Alex Shelley / Curry Man
Team Japan – Milano Collection A. T. / Masato Yoshino / Puma
Team Mexico – Ultimo Guerrero / Rey Bucanero / Averno
Team International – Alex Koslov / Doug Williams / Tyson Dukes

This one will of course be a fast-paced out of control match. I think the match will come down to Averno, Doug Williams, and Chris Sabin. (Last standing member of Team Japan should be Yoshino.) To keep things exciting I think Averno edges out Sabin for the win.

Winner: Team Mexico’s Averno

Grudge Match
Black Machismo Jay Lethal vs. The Guru Sonjay Dutt

This should be a decent match. I think it ends with a bad twist. So Cal Val does something to help Sonjay win the match, and she leaves with him.

Winner: Sonjay Dutt

TNA Knockouts Match

Gail Kim vs. Angelina Love

Gail Kim wins, possibly with a little help from ODB who comes down to ringside to cancel out the presence of Velvet Sky. In the end one of The Beautiful People will get the brown bag treatment.

Winner: Gail Kim

World X Cup – Ultimate X Match

Team TNA Kaz vs. Team Mexico Volador, Jr. vs. Naruki Doi vs. Daivari

Kaz wins this one to keep TNA on top. The win clinches the victory for Team TNA. Other than Daivari’s presence this could be an outstanding match.

Winner: Kaz

TNA Knockouts Women’s Championship Match

Taylor Wilde vs. Awesome Kong accompanied by Raisha Saeed

Kong controls most of the match. Roxxi comes down to help take Saeed out of the match. Taylor gets lucky and wins in the end, possibly off a distraction from Roxxi.

Winner and still Knockout’s Champion : Taylor Wilde

Fan’s Revenge Match – TNA Tag Team Championship Match

LAX (Homicide & Hernandez accompanied by Hector Guerrero & Salinas) vs. Beer-Money, Inc. (James Storm & Robert Roode accompanied by Jacqueline)

LAX retain their titles, while Beer Money gets whipped by the fans repeatedly and often.

Winners: LAX

Fan’s Pick The Stipulation – Six-Man Tag Team Match

A.J. Styles, Christian Cage & Rhino vs. Kurt Angle, and Team 3D

That fans will end up picking Full Metal Mayhem. It will be an exciting and bloody match. Angle will make someone tap with the ankle lock.

Winners: Kurt Angle, and Team 3D

TNA World Heavyweight Championship Match

Champion Samoa Joe vs. Booker T

In front of his hometown friends, family, and fans, Booker T adds to his long list of championships that he has held. He will defeat Joe and win the belt. I do think there might be some outside factors, whether it be Sting or Kevin Nash, or both.

Winner and New TNA Champion: Booker T

Other notes: BG James will begin a possible transition from in ring talent to microphone/backstage talent. He will be performing some of the back stage interviews tonight.

Again, make sure you are voting to pick the stipulation in the six-man tag match. Voting opens when the pay-per-view starts.

Did Samoa Joe retain his TNA World Heavyweight Title in the King of the Mountain match?

Slammiversary from the DeSoto Civic Center in South Haven, Mississippi (just minutes south of Memphis, TN)

X Division Championship Match
Kaz vs. X Division Champ Little Petey Pump accompanied by Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner and Rhaka Khan, and a big lead pipe.

Petey is wearing a protective face guard. He has a fractured orbital bone and it is a precautionary measure. Kaz controlled the tempo early in the match. As can be expected it was fast-paced. There were counters left and right when the opponent was trying for a move. Petey took control on the outside after Kaz was distracted by Rhaka Khan momentarily. Kaz would try a couple pinfalls to break Petey’s momentum, but was tossed to the floor during one of the kickouts. Petey than slingshot himself over the top rope and hit Kaz with a Hunnakunrana. Petey then kept control, wearing Kaz down part by part. Kaz would comeback after Petey threw him into the ropes and he countered a backdrop by sliding over his back instead, the place a boot right into Petey’s face and protective mask. They both got to their feet and Kaz hit him with a flurry of punches and chops followed by a flying forearm, an elbow, and then a Power Bomb into a two-count. After dodging a charging Petey in the corner, Kaz hit him with a DDT and another two-count. Petey rolled to the ring apron and was then slingshotted back into the ring, as he came flying in Kaz caught him in a Diamond Cutter/RKO type move, and got another two-count. Petey turned it back around and hit him with a Side Russian Leg Sweep, then played to the crowd in anticipation of his Canadian Destroyer. Instead Kaz fought back a little, but then Petey picked up into what looked like a bear hug, but then tucked his head under his arm and turned it into a DDT-like move, followed by a two-count. Petey climbed to the top where Kaz charged in and hit a kick to the side of his head. Kaz then went up to hit the Flux Capacitor, but was blocked, Petey tried to turned it into the Canadian Destroyer from the top rope. Kaz fought him off, but then Petey dropped to the floor and on the way down grabbed Kaz’s arm and smashed it across the ring ropes. Petey kicks out of a backslide pin, then grabs Kaz to try for the Destroyer a third time. Kaz blocked it by standing straight up and holding onto Petey, who was now hanging upside down on Kaz’s back, He dropped to his knees driving his head into the mat, sort of like a backwards Pile Driver. See, this is why a match between Kaz and Petey Williams is so great, half the moves they end up doing don’t even have a name! After another near fall, Rhaka Khan came into the ring, Kaz hit her with a big boot to the face, while Steiner took the opportunity to toss the pipe into the ring. Petey hit him right over the head with it. He rolled him over for the pin, but only got a two-count. At this point we see Kaz is bleeding heavily. When’s the last time you saw bleeding in the opening match of a WWE pay-per-view? At this point Petey takes off his face-guard and tosses it away. He set him up for a fourth try at the Canadian Destroyer, but Kaz slipped out and rolled him up for a near pinfall. Petey countered by slapping on the Sharpshooter. Kaz powered out, and two counter moves later hit the Wave of the Future out of nowhere. It was still only enough for a two-count. Kaz then tried going to the top rope, but Steiner came over to interfere, he would end up kicking him off the apron, while also fighting off Petey. Petey would turn it around quickly, and finally in his fifth attempt nail the Canadian Destroyer (which by the way for those that don’t know is a pile driver which has both men doing a flip prior to the pile driver itself, an amazingly athletic move!). He then got the one-two-three for the victory.

Winner and still X Division Champion: Petey Williams

After a brief celebration Steiner, Rhaka Khan and Petey start beating on Kaz. Steiner grabs a mic and says, “You just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Where’s my title rematch? Why the hell am I not on the show tonight? I’ll tell you why, because TNA is scared. They don’t want a guy like me being champion. So they screwed me out of my world title shot. Well see Kaz tonight I’m gonna screw you. You have a world title shot on Thursday, well I’m gonna make sure you don’t show up.” He then continued to beat on Kaz.

Off went the lights, on came some music… It was the music of Abyss. Down he came wearing a white outfit from the “asylum”. Steiner threw Petey into his arms. Abyss hit the Black Hole Slam on him, but then Steiner hit him from behind. Abyss would send Steiner into the ropes and as he came off of them hit him with a Black Hole Slam also. His attention then turned to Rhaka Khan who was now holding the pipe. He grabbed her for a chokeslam, but then reconsidered and let her go. . . but then he spun her back around and hit her with his third Black Hole Slam. His mask is gray now instead of black, and his outfit has his name Park and his number at the asylum on it. He then carried a bloody Kaz back to the locker room.

One quick note, as I said, when is the last time you saw blood during the opening match at a WWE pay-per-view? I now need to also ask when the last time the opening match at a WWE PPV (or in many cases the main event even) go on for twenty minutes?

Eric Young is now out at the announce table with a mic to announce that he found Elvis Presley and he will be out later to sit in the front row seat he has reserved for him.

Next up an interview with Kevin Nash who points out that everything is business. How if Joe loses tonight, Big Sexy loses, and if Joe wins then Nash cashes in.

Another video preview follows with the TNA Knockouts essentially mocking the WWE Divas.

Out came the Beautiful People and who they were now calling “Moose”. Apparently they didn’t like Mike Tenay and Don West referring to her as Mickie Knuckles. Problem is, she came out still wearing an outfit with Mickie written across the butt, and a big M and K on the front of her legs.

Angelina Love, Velvet Sky, and Mickie Moose (I may call her that from now on!)
vs.
Gail Kim, ODB, and Roxxi

The match started with all three coming into the ring which sent Love and Sky to the floor. This left Moose in the ring where they took turns hitting her. Threw her into the corner where Gail flung Roxxi into her, then flung ODB into her. Finally Gail hit her with a flying forearm that knocked her to the floor. At this point Love and Sky were upset with Moose and started walking back up the ramp to the locker room. ODB and Gail Kim ran up to stop them, and drag them back to ringside. This whole time Roxxi had been beating on Moose. Now back in the ring, Roxxi bounced off the ropes, but Love grabbed her foot. It was enough of a distraction that when she turned around Moose caught her and drover her face into the mat. Velvet would tag in and begin pounding on Roxxi, now it was time for some quick tags, in came Love. They controlled Roxxi for awhile. Sky then got her into the Octopus move she has been using. Roxxi broke out and then kicked Sky, and crawled toward the tag. She made it and in cam Gail Kim. She took control of the match with a couple of clotheslines, followed by some elbows. Then to the ring apron, she clotheslined Love and started climbing to the top rope, gave Moose a kick which knocked her to the floor. She then hit Sky with a Flying Cross Body Block into a two-count. She then tried bouncing off the ropes, but Love grabbed her feet and then dragged her to the edge of the ring apron and smashed Gail’s hurt leg across the edge. Sky then dragged her in and worked on the leg. In came Love who removed Kim’s knee pad and continued to beat on the injured leg. She put her in a Half- Boston Crab, which would eventually be broken up because Kim got to the rope. Moose came in and kept on the knee. Gail would eventually fight back with a Hurricanrana and then try to mount some offense as she hopped around the ring. She finally got the tag to ODB. She let lose with a few clothesline to each member of the opposing team and was fired up. Hit Love with a fall-away slam, nips up and goes after Moose. After fighting her off briefly she grabbed her flask and took a drink, but then spit it into Moose’s face. Up to the second rope she went and came off with a Theis Press into a pin which was broken up by Love and Sky. Now all six were in the ring fighting. Kim and Roxxi sent Love and Sky to the floor and then followed. In the ring ODB got Moose up for a running Powerslam into the three count.

Winners: Gail Kim, Roxxi, and ODB

Next up an interview with Rhino. After two extremely exciting matches I feel the need to point out to TNA, they can stop hyping up the PPV and the main event. Now is the time to keep the excitement going, not have video package after video package, and interviews. Now hopefully back to the exciting action in the ring.

TNA World Tag Team Championship Match
Team 3D vs. LAX – Homicide & Hernandez accompanied by Hector Guerrero and Salinas

Hernandez and Devon start off the match with Devon taking control briefly until Hernandez hit him with a flying shoulder tackle. Then a tag to Homicide, they whipped him into the corner then charged in with Homicide hitting him low and Hernandez high. Homicide then flung him toward Hernandez who hit him with a double forearm tackle. Devon eventually got the tag to Brother Ray who came in and slowed it down, till Homicide hit him with an arm drag, they would then go back and forth a bit. Homicide would charge the corner for a monkey flip, but Ray stopped him and turned him around to sit him on the top turnbuckle and give him a slap across the face. He then turned and walked away, Homicide waited for him to turn back around and hit him with a dropkick. Devon came in to get Homicide from behind, but he saw him coming and shoved him toward the corner where Hernandez slingshotted himself over the top rope and hit him with a shoulder, and then a double dropkick to both members of Team 3D, sending them to the floor. Hernandez then flew over the top rope and down onto Ray and Devon, immediately followed by Homicide diving through the ropes and flipping into Ray. Back in the ring Homicide got a two-count, then went to the top rope, Devon shoved him off and down to the floor and into the guard rail. The rest of LAX came over to check on him. Brother Ray came over and shoved both Salinas and Hector away with his foot. He then grabbed Homicide and flung him into the guard rail and then back into the ring to Devon. Team 3D totally took over and used some tags and double teams to dominate. Devon would go to the ropes for a flying headbutt, Homicide rolled out of the way though. He would crawl to get the tag to Hernandez but Ray came into the ring just before and distracted the ref who didn’t see the tag and made him get out of the ring. Team 3D then went back to double-teaming Homicide. Devon went to the top rope to hit a superplex, but Homicide fought out and then bit his ear, finally leaping off the top and hitting Devon with a Jawbreaker. He would crawl over again, and this time the ref saw the tag. Hernandez came in and overpowered Devon and Ray. He hit Ray with a delayed suplex and held that 300 pounds up in the air for a long time. After a couple of clotheslines on Ray he tagged Homicide back in. Homicide climbed to the top and hit Ray with a Flying Cross Body Block and into the pin, but Devon broke it up. Now all four men were in the ring, Ray tossed Homicide out to the floor, and then it was time to double-team Hernandez. Ray slammed him down and Devon climbed the ropes to hit him with their trademark headbutt, but Homicide came over to shove him off the ropes. Hernandez then slammed Ray and set him up for their own headbutt move, but as Salinas was about to climb the ropes to deliver the headbutt to Ray’s crotch area out came Johnny Devon with a Singapore Cane. Hector grabbed him and hit him over the head with the cane. Salinas would then leap off with the headbutt. Hernandez turned his back on Team 3D and Devon came over and tossed him to the floor and then dragged Homicide back in. Whipped him to the corner, then charged in with a splash. He then propped him up on the turnbuckle and climbed up, before he could do anything Hernandez came over and lifted Devon onto his shoulders, homicide came flying off the top rope and hit Devon with the Gringo Cutter. Hernandez then hit Ray with a Spinebuster, Homicide came off the ropes with a frog splash and went for the pin. At the two count Devon pulled the referee out of the ring. As the ref was yelling at Devon on the floor Homicide leaped through the ropes again but Devon moved and he crashed to the floor. Hernandez went to pull Devon back into the ring, but Ray came up from behind and delivered a low blow. As Devon and Ray waited for Hernandez to get t his feet so they could hit him with the 3D, Homicide came in and rolled Ray up from behind for the three count, before either of them could realize what had happened.

Winners and still Tag Team Champions: LAX

More video and interviewing, this time Robert Roode.

Next up the Awesome Kong $25,000 Challenge. Down came Serena Deeb, from Mississippi who has been training in MMA, also Josie Robinson from Memphis, Tennessee. Kong chose Serena, who by the way is the current Ohio Valley Wrestling and Memphis Championship Wrestling Champion. I am not sure what happened to Shantelle Taylor being the opponent, bad rumors I guess, sorry.

Awesome Kong with Raisha Sayid vs. Serena Deeb

Kong dominated form the start. Deeb jumped on her back, but was flung off and to the outside. Kong followed her out and picked her up by the legs and swung her head into the guard rail, she then picked her up and whipped her into a different guard rail, followed by stepping on her head. Then rammed her into the steel ring steps. She turned and shoved Josie back from the rail on her way back to Serena. She rolled her back into the ring, hit her with the Implant Buster, and the three-count.

Winner: Awesome Kong

Kong then went back out to Josie who had been talking since being shoved. It seems Kong wanted another match, this one against Josie. Josie caught her off guard with a slap to the face, and then hopped the rail and started pounding on Kong. She was soon tossed into the guard rail by Kong though, the whipped into it again on the other side of the ring. Kong then placed Josie right in front of the steel ring post to deliver a big punch. We all know this never worked out well for the one throwing the punch. This time would be no different, Josie ducked and Kong hit the post. Josie went right back after her with some punches, and then ducked a couple Kong clothesline attempts. Then she let up and climbed into the ring, Kong followed and was met with a kick. Kong recovered and was not at all happy. She took off the padded gloves she usually wears before she delivered her next punch, followed by a clothesline. Then she hit her with the Awesome Bomb and the three count.

Winner: Awesome Kong again

While the music played and the trainer checked on Josie, out came Eric Young with the moment we’ve all been waiting for. Kong still didn’t look too happy. “Ladies and Gentleman, the real king of Rock N Roll, Elvis Presley!” Out came one of the worst Elvis impersonators ever. He headed down to the ring, and then made the mistake of getting in the ring, while Kong was still standing there. He turned to ask Kong how she enjoyed visiting the King’s house while she was here in Memphis, he called her “little lady” in the process. Kong kicked him in the mid-section and then hit him with an Awesome Bomb too.

Now, Awesome Kong has left the ring, Elvis would have to be carried from the ring and building.

Time for Christian Cage’s video package and interview.

Time for the wedding of Jay Lethal and So Cal Val.

The minister Brother Hank Whitman. So much for the hope of a Brother Love appearance. Out come the Groomsmen. American Idol finalist, Ace Young is out first, and not very dressed up. Next out, The Ugandan Headhunter Kamala, see now Kamala knows to get dressed up for an event like this, he is wearing a tuxedo. No shoes, but a tux with pants that are much too short for him. Next, Jake The Snake Roberts, also in a tux, with no snake in sight. Out next, accompanied by Frankie, The Birdman, Koko B. Ware, in a tux with line green hair. He put Frankie on his perch in the ring. George The Animal Steele was next out, he doesn’t come down the ramp, but from around the side of the entry way. Now we also know why Koko’s hair is green, it is to match George’e trademark green tongue! Bridesmaid Sarah Donnegan, and Best Man Sonjay Dutt come out together. Sonjay is in traditional Indian garb.

Now it is time for the groom, Black Machismo Jay Lethal in a white and gold tuxedo complete with three foot long fringe. Finally out comes So Cal Val in a long white dress. As she walks out she looks scared walking by Kamala. The minister welcome everyone and then got right to the “if anyone has any objections” part of the ceremony. After a bit of a long pause they continue, Sonjay didn’t speak up yet. Then right into the vows, richer, poorer, sickness, health, and so on..Jay says I do..same vows read again to Val. This is when Sonjay steps between them saying “Stop, stop stop. This has gone on long enough.” He professes his love to Val and says how she should be marrying him and not Jay. This leads to Jay pushing him back and an argument. Jay turns his back to say something to Val and Sonjay uses a stand from one of the flower arrangements to hit Jay across the back. He then got on top of Lethal and began pounding on him. At this point Ace Young came running into the ring to stop Sonjay, but gets punched. In comes Koko, Sonjay hits him, and they fight back and forth for a minute. Meanwhile Kamala has climbed onto the ring apron and started taking off his shirt. Kamala and Koko begin taking turns hitting Sonjay. As the fans urge The Animal to get in the ring Val walks back up the ramp in tears. Koko is holding Sonjay’s feet. Jake Roberts grabs a bag from under the ring and releases the snake right behind Kamala. Now anyone that remembers a battle between Jake The Snake and Kamala will remember that Kamala is deathly afraid of snakes. So this sends Kamala into a frenzy while trying to escape the ring. The Animal is tearing apart all the decorations, while Jake comes in to lay the python on top of Sonjay. Dutt would roll out of the ring. Meanwhile The Animal is tearing into the turnbuckle pad, and although they didn’t fill it with the tiny Styrofoam pieces, they did use some cotton batting which he can tear into pieces easily, but can also be cleaned up quickly. Once he became busy in the corner Koko finished off destroying the wedding decorations. As Dutt walked off they groomsmen stayed in the ring consoling Jay Lethal. See, now this is a much better ending to a wedding than a faked heart attack as you go off the air.

Now to Booker’s video package and interview. He basically whined how TNA begged him to come over from the WWE, but then backed out of their promises, and gave him a locker room that smelled like elephant urine. He went on to say how in the WWE he was told what to do, dictated to, but tonight he will do what he wants to do. He even broke into that ridiculously annoying fake English accent near the end of the interview.

Grudge Match
Kurt Angle accompanied by Tomko vs. The Phenomenal One A.J. Styles

Angle came right at A.J. with some mat wrestling, when A.J. couldn’t quite get loose he used the ropes to break the series of holds. Angle would get him into a headlock which A.J. would break by throwing him into the ropes, Angle bounced off with a shoulder block. Styles followed up with a series of three arm drags which cause Angle to roll out of the ring to break the momentum. Back in the ring, Angle connects with a kick and a couple European Uppercuts then bounces off the ropes. Styles did an impressively high leap frog with a split included, Angle bounced again, this time Style dropped down to the mat, this time when Angle came near him he hit him with his high dropkick. A dropkick that as I have said before is rivaled in height today by only that of Randy Orton’s. Styles drove his head into the turnbuckle and followed with a series of punches. Angle would turn it around with a rake to the eyes, followed by some kicks. He then whipped him across the ring into the corner and charged in after him, Styles moved and Angle’s shoulder was driven into the steel ring post. A.J. was now out on th erring apron and launched himself onto the top rope and then connected with a flying forearm, into a two-count. After a brief distraction by Tomko Angle shoulder blocked him to the floor. As Tomko approached AJ referee Earl Hebner stepped in the middle and sent Tomko back to the dressing room. While that was going on Angle slammed Styles into the guard rail repeatedly. He then rolled him back into the ring as security leads Tomko up the ramp. Angle would complain about him leaving to the ref on the outside, and then go to climb back in the ring. Styles charged and knocked him back to the floor with an elbow, then ran across the ring and back again this time launching himself over the top rope and flipping down onto Angle. He landed with his heel and calf wrapped around the back of Kurt’s head and neck. At this point I thought Angle’s neck might be hurt. Don’t forget Angle had to sit out last month’s PPV due to neck problems, and has been out of action since. A. J. would roll him in for a two-count, then hit a big back breaker across his knee and get another near fall. He slammed him to the mat then came off the ropes with a flying knee drop right to Angle’s face, followed by another two-count. Angle would fight back with some punches and then picked him up on his shoulder and tossed him off backwards, he would then repeat the move. Now it was time for him to try and wear him down with a headlock, putting all of his weight on him. He then controlled the match with some power and by continuing to wear him down. Styles is now bleeding from the nose. He battles out with some elbows, but then gets caught in a Belly-To-Belly suplex, and Angle goes right back to wearing him down. Every time Styles tried to comeback Angle shut him down. Angle put him on the top rope and hit him with a couple of shots that would have knocked him off to the floor if not for his foot being hooked in the ropes. Angle then climbed up for an attempt at a Superplex. A.J. fought back a bit, and when they went off the ropes it was A.J. that turned it into a sort of face first suplex to the mat. They couldn’t quite get their balance on the top rope and seemed to bang heads as they landed. They both got to their feet and exchanged blows then Styles hit him with a spin kick and a couple clotheslines. Then he picked him up for a Pump-Handle slam, but spun him around and gave him a knee to the stomach, followed by a two-count. Next he would hold him up for a delayed suplex, but instead let him land on his feet and then hit a neck breaker into another near fall. Angle hit him with another uppercut, then whipped him into the corner and grabbed him from behind to hit a German Suplex, followed by another one. Styles blocked the third one, and then hit Angle with a release German Suplex that flipped Kurt around entirely. Styles got to his feet first and tried for his discuss punch, but Angle ducked it and hit him with the same realease German, into a two-count. As angle raised him to his feet A.J. nailed him with a high side-kick to the back of the head. He then charges in with a splash, but Angle caught him and threw him for a Belly-to-Belly into the corner ropes with a bad landing. After a two-count Angle goes for the Angle Slam, but A.J. turns it into a DDT and into yet another near pinfall. He went for the Style’s Clash but Kurt countered, A.J. countered into a pin, but Angle turned it around into an Ankle Lock. Styles would rollover and fling Angle into the corner, landing head first into the second turnbuckle. Styles would leap up the ropes and do a backflip into his inverted DDT and a near three-count. Styles would then go back to the top rope, Angle jumped up and climbed to the top for the Angle Slam all the way down to the mat, followed by a two-count. Angle then put him in the Ankle Lock again, A.J. countered and rolled him into a pin, just a two again. Back to their feet, Angle missed a clothesline and Styles hit his Pele Kick. Into a pin, and Angle grabbed the rope at two to break it. He then went for the Styles Clash again, this time Kurt countered by grabbing his ankle and putting him in the Ankle Lock again. Styles turned it over and kicked Kurt off, as he went backwards he hit into the ref, knocking him to the mat. As Angle came close Styles reached up with his legs and flung him out of the ring to the floor. At this point Karen Angle is at the top of the ramp holding a steel chair, and begins walking down to ringside. She yells to Kurt to take the chair, then when he tries to she holds onto it and won’t let go. This was just enough of a distraction, Styles rolled him over for what looked like a pin, but instead he stood up and hit him with the Styles Clash finally and then got the three count.

Winner: The Phenomenal A.J. Styles

Karen would join him in the ring to celebrate. As they celebrated Kurt got up and hit A.J. across the back with the chair. Karen slapped Kurt across the face, he then grabbed her hair, but she got away and out of the ring, where Kurt sort of spit on her. Then he went back to beat on A.J.. Meanwhile Tomko is working his way through security and back down to the ring. Kurt then slapped on the Ankle Lock again. A few refs came down and things settled down.

Time for the Samoa Joe video package and interview.

King of the Mountain Match for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship

TNA Heavyweight Champion Samoa Joe vs. Christian Cage vs. Booker T vs. Rhino vs. Robert Roode

Special Ring Enforcer: Kevin Nash

After about a ten minute entrance from the five competitors and the introduction from JB, the match finally gets underway. At the start Nash takes hold of the belt. All five men start pounding on one another. Christian and Rhino work together for a bit on Roode. Booker and Joe pair up and fight out on the floor. Booker would make his way back to the ring to shove Cage off the top rope to the floor. Cage landed wrong on his knee and remain laying on the floor. Booker then focused on Rhino. Rhino would send Booker back to the floor, in came Joe to control Rhino for awhile, next in is Roode. Joe stays in control until Cage comes back in. Cage sends Joe to the mat then works on Roode till he rolls out of the ring. Then Joe comes back at Christian putting him in the corner and hitting him with a high kick and then tries to set him up for the Musclebuster, but Christian fought out and leaped over him to the mat then bounced off the ropes into a Powerslam from Joe, then Booker charged and was met with the same snap Powerslam. Christian would hit Joe with a reverse flying forearm off the ropes, a two count, then he puts him in the corner and pounds on him. Joe reverses and hangs Cage up on the Tree of Woe, bounces off the ropes and comes in with a big dropkick to the face. Cage rolls out to the floor, Joe waited and then went to bounce off the ropes and dive out onto him, but Booker grabbed Joe and took him to the outside and rammed his head into the KotM penalty box cage. Booker would beat on Joe punching and kicking him repeatedly. Booker then rolled back into the ring and hit Rhino with a Bookend and got the three count to become the first person eligible to hang the belt and win. Rhino heads to the penalty box for two minutes. Booker goes for a ladder immediately, and goes to get the belt from Nash. By the time he got into the ring with the belt Joe had a hold on the ladder and he had to go to the floor to fight it away from him. As they fought for the ladder on the floor Cage came in with a baseball slide sending them both down. Roode would then hit Cage with a neck breaker from the top rope, which led into a two-count. Roode would try for a Pile Driver or Power Bomb, but Cage pulled his legs out from under him and catapulted Roode out to the floor. Rhino’s time was now up and he and Cage tapped hands and then got into it. As Rhino had Cage setup for the Gore, Joe grabbed his ankles and with one leg on each side of the ring post he pulled him back into it. Joe got into the ring and Cage charged, but Joe slammed him down to the mat with one arm. While Cage was down Joe noticed the other three in a bunch on the floor, so he bounced off the ropes and flipped over the top down onto all three of them. Cage then climbed atop the penalty box and jumped down onto all four of them. Cage then pulled a table out from under the ring and set it up on the floor. He then rolled Roode back into the ring, hit the other three a bit, then added a ladder and a chair in the ring. Cage had the ladder, and Roode used the chair to hit the ladder back into Cage. He then pinned him, Robert Roode is now eligible, Cage to the penalty box for two minutes. Roode turns and asks Nash for the belt, Nash stalls, and Rhino rolls him up from behind for the pin. Rhino is now eligible, Roode to box for two minutes. Roode argued with the ref, and then shoved him down when he was told to go to the box. Luckily Nash was right there and grabbed his feet and dragged him out of the ring. He hit him and then threw him into the penalty box. Cage and Roode began fighting in the box. Rhino was almost up the ladder with the belt when Booker T pushed it over, Rhino got clotheslined by the top rope. Joe came back in and started fighting with Booker now. He locked on the Rear Naked Choke. Christian was released from the box and immediately climbed to the top of it and hit a frog splash on both Joe and Booker. This broke the choke and allowed Christian to pin Booker. Christian is now eligible, Booker to the box for two minutes. Now Samoa Joe is the only one not eligible to hang the belt. Roode released from box. Cage sets up the ladder and gets the belt, Roode stops him, then tries climbing up. Joe grabs him around the waist and suplexes him down. Christian got up and went right back up the ladder. Joe climbed up and hit a neck breaker from the top of the ladder on Christian. Rhino hit Joe with a Gore. Everyone was down at this point. Rhino went to get the belt from Nash who stalled a little, and just as rhino got his hand on the belt booker grabbed it and smashed Nash over the head with it. He then hit everyone else in the head with the belt. Then he climbed the ladder and was almost to the top when Nash came into the ring and stopped him. He took him off the ladder and hit a Jack-knife Power Bomb. Christian headed toward the ladder but was stopped by Joe. Joe tried for the Musclebuster, but Cage blocked it and ended up on the ring apron. Rhino charged at Joe for another Gore, but Joe moved and he hit Christian instead, sending him flying off the apron and crashing through the table he had set up earlier. Roode hit Joe with a Northern Lariat, Rhino then takes out Roode. Rhino climbs the ropes, and Roode shoves him to the floor. Joe tries to block Roode climbing the ladder, gets shoved off but comes back again. He hit Roode with a high kick to the head while Roode was on the second rung of the ladder, and then hits him with the Musclebuster off the ladder and gets the three-count. Finally Joe is eligible, Roode to the box. Joe goes to the ladder immediately. He got up the ladder and hung his belt to become the first Champion to ever go into the King of the Mountain and also leaves as the Champion.

Winner and still TNA Heavyweight Champion: Samoa Joe

Nash would come in to celebrate with him, and shake his hand, and Joe sort of accepted the handshake.

Of course the show ends with an advertisement for the next PPV Sunday July 13th, TNA presents Victory Road – “Houston We Have A Problem” from Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas

That was a REALLY good pay-per-view!

The King of the Mountain match was very good yes, but I have to give the match of the night to an actual tie of two other matches. Match one – A.J. Styles vs. Kurt Angle, and match two – Kaz vs. Petey Williams. These were two of the most exciting matches I have seen in recent memory. Amazingly one of them was the first match of the night! Let’s see, Kaz – Petey Williams, or JBL – Cena? Which is a better opening match? Hands down TNA wins! Sadly if Petey or Kaz were to go to the WWE they would probably get some ridiculous gimmick. TNA needs to make sure they keep the X Division visible and on-air more often, and I don’t mean Sonjay Dutt and Jay Lethal fighting over Val.

Speaking of them, the wedding went pretty decent from an entertainment point of view. Amazing how the WWE can’t get people like Kamala, Koko, Jake the Snake, and George The Animal Steele to make appearances on their shows, even though that is where they all came from, or at least gained their biggest fame from. It was fun to watch, although I was upset that neither Ace Young nor Frankie got to sing. . . well OK, I was upset Frankie didn’t get to sing, didn’t care about Ace singing.

If you read my preview of the event you will see only one of my predictions end up happening. LAX retained their belts against Team 3D. This is actually a great thing though, the matches turned out to be unpredictable unlike so many matches in the WWE.

Team 3D vs. LAX image
3D and LAX renew their battle tonight. This time with some different players than the last time.

TNA World Tag Team Championship Match

Champions The Latin American Xchange- Homicide & Hernandez vs. Team 3D - Brother Ray and Brother Devon

We've seen this match before, but now in LAX's corner is Hector Guerrero and Salinas instead of Konan. Also the match is now for the TNA titles, rather than the storied NWA titles since the NWA backed out of affiliation with TNA. Any time LAX gets in the ring the match is going to be exciting. They often remind me of The Gangstas from the original ECW, only more athletic and innovative. Hernandez is one of the most underrated wrestlers in the business today, be nice to see him get a chance as a singles wrestler at some point in the heavyweight division. In case you can't already tell, I am picking LAX to successfully defend their titles. It will probably involve LAX using a table brought into the ring by Devon to finish Team 3D off, but before that point in the match I have a feeling Hector might find his way through a table.

Awesome Kong's $25,000 Challenge

This is getting a bit annoying, but if you notice each opponent is a little better than the last. I am sure they will work some of the opponents into the TNA Knockout division. Thus far, I hope Daffney is the first to be signed and used.

SPOILER ALERT: I am about to tell you who Kong's opponent will most likely be, if you don't want to know stop reading here and scroll past this point.

Shantelle Taylor image
Shantelle Taylor, new TNA Knockout

Kong's opponent tonight will be Shantelle Taylor. Taylor has been part of the WWE under a developmental contract, but was released last August. She has done well on the Independent circuits, and looks to break through in TNA. I look for Taylor to do much better than the previous opponents, but I doubt she will win. Although, if someone is going to win, I am sure it would be at a pay-per-view. Plus what better way to get Taylor into the spotlight than by beating the Women's Champion.

Petey Williams and Kaz image
Kaz reaches the top of the X Division tonight?

X Division championship Match

Champion Little Petey Pump Petey Williams vs. Kaz

This should be a fast-pace exciting match. i believe Kaz will actually win and become the new X Division Champion. The X Division has been lacking quite a bit as of late on the weekly show, but as I pointed out they finally had a match on this week's Impact. Kaz at the top of the division should get some interest back into the division.

Jay Lethal and Val Image
Jay Lethal and Val get married tonight, or do they?

Jay Lethal & So Cal Val get married

This is supposed to be a star-studded event. All of the following people are expected to show up; American Idol finalist Ace Young, George "The Animal" Steel, Koko B. Ware, Jake "The Snake" Roberts and Kamala. This is worth watching just to see those four wrestlers from long ago. Sonjay Dutt will speak up rather than hold his peace when the minister asks. Be a nice twist if they can manage to have Brother Love marry them. In the end I think the marriage will be put on hold for one reason or another, possibly when Dutt speaks up he has a racy video of him and Val or something.

Six-Lady TNA Knockouts Match

Gail Kim, ODB and Roxxi vs. The Beautiful People - Angelina Love, Velvet Sky, and Mickie Knuckles

Gail Kim makes her return to in ring action. This match should be controlled by Kim, ODB and Roxxi, although Knuckles will probably take over at some point and get the pin. This should launch some sort of one on one feud between her and ODB.

AJ Styles and Kurt Angle image
AJ Styles and Kurt Angle take each other to the limit, if Kurt is healthy.

"The Phenomenal One" AJ Styles vs. Kurt Angle

This grudge match has the potential to be the best match of the night. These two could put on one of the most aathletic and exciting matches in recent history. That is of course if Kurt Angle is fully cleared to even be at the PPV. If he isn't fully cleared we may still get the match, just a less dangerous version of it. If he is all set look for fast-paced mat action, as well as some high flying action from the now returning to prominence version of The Phenomenal One. In the end Kurt probably wins, or we have a double DQ.

King of the Mountain image
Samoa Joe defends his TNA Championship in the once a year spectacle, King of the Mountain match.

King of the Mountain Match for the TNA Heavyweight Championship

Special Ring Enforcer: Kevin Nash

Champion Samoa Joe vs. Robert Roode vs. Booker T vs. "The Instant Classic" Christian Cage vs. "The War Machine" Rhino

This match always has a lot of action, usually too much for the cameras to keep up with. Usually the champ gong in isn't the champ coming out. This is good because Joe is better on the bottom working his way to the top, rather than being at the top. I do believe Booker T gets appeased and wins the title for a brief time. this spawns a battle between him and Christian Cage. Alternatively, in an attempt to show Kaz is a real up and comer the new X Division champ after tonight gets a title shot this coming Thursday on Impact, maybe he beats Booker to hold both belts. Kaz of course loses it after a week to someone.

Full Video Preview of TNA's Slammiversary

This should be a rather good PPV in the end with some surprises along the way. Be sure to watch for Abyss's return to TNA. I am not quite sure where he fist in with the current list of matches, unless it is maybe to interfere in the King of the Mountain match. He could possibly be put into an unlisted match with someone like Matt Morgan, which could actually be a pretty good match to watch. Hopefully his return doesn't mean James Mitchell returns right away too.
