Can ROH Survive with a TV Deal
November 30th 2009 23:10
ROH has become the number three promotion in the United States by default. They are on HDNet and have also had PPVs being that in order for it to grow, it had to go out to that level. In ways, it can be said that it has taken on the mold of the original ECW in that it would be a place where talent got developed and would eventually be picked by the two largest wrestling companies (WWE and TNA). The only problem is that not everybody gets HDNet and that is a shame.
The main question is going to be about surviving. It is unfortunate that ECW didn't have the money and couldn't make as much to survive. It might have still be around but then again, would there be an ROH? That's a good question. They never got advertised but that's just ECW. ROH, on the other hand, has an issue in that it is not a network that some people do not get. If you don't have that channel or not a follower of the promotion, then how are you going to be aware of it?
There is potential with it and that is true. Some wrestlers have come from the company itself and have moved on to more mainstream companies. From the WWE, it would be CM Punk and Bryan Danielson. In TNA, there is Samoa Joe and there is Nigel known there as Desmond Wolfe.
Personally, it would be nice for it to keep going. With multiple options in terms of watching wrestling, it makes it better for everyone. There are those that just want to watch WWE only, same with TNA, and even ROH. Of course, anyone can watch all 3 and it's a lot easier now than it was back then.
I hope they upgrade to get a better TV deal though on a more known network.
