2011 WWE Draft
April 30th 2011 21:17
The WWE Draft gets a bit more pointless each year. However, they use it again and again as a way to explain why they have to shift certain talent from one show to another. This year they needed to fill a hole on Smackdown that is being left by Edge having to retire. They know Alberto Del Rio cannot carry the show as champion. They also still feel that Christian cannot carry the show either though.
The first draft pick went to Smackdown and was John Cena, of course he would then be drafted back to the Raw roster at the end of Raw.
Here is the full list of 30 draft picks followed by my comments.
As I said there is a hole to fill on Smackdown, Del Rio can't fill it, and they don't think Christian can (I do). Enter Randy Orton. I am pretty certain Christian will be winning the title at Extreme Rules and then lose it soon after to Orton. The thing is with Cena staying on Raw and being joined by Mysterio, and Big Show who exactly will be challenging Orton? The pool pretty includes Christian, and perhaps throw Kane and Sheamus back into the title hunt. The other option is to force The Undertaker to actually come back on a regular basis. Good luck with that though.
The biggest surprise was Rey Mysterio being moved off of Smackdown. Of course they moved Sin Cara TO Smackdown in an attempt to make him the new Mysterio.
Most of the rest of the moves were inconsequential. Many of them haven't been on TV for either of the main shows in some time. I mean, umm The Usos were on Raw and not Smackdown before the draft? Who knew? Alicia Fox is still a WWE Diva? Hmm.
All in all it was another waste of time that leads to all the Superstars wearing red and blue shirts for a couple weeks to make sure everyone knows which show they are on now. On the brightside the Orton-Punk feud, the Mysterio-Rhodes feud, and Alex Riley and The Miz are now forced to break up.
